MG4 Trophy ER
Hello to all.
I want to change my trophy ER rims for aftermarket ones. The problem is ET number. Factory is ET51.
If someone changed rims and know their et number and have picture how it looks I would appreciate it.
ET51 is hard to find, mostly are 40-45.
Also will driving dynamics change if I get for example et40 rims?

Today I found out (in a costly way) that 17" rims can't go on Trophy ER, because ER have same discs and calipers in the as XPower, so just 18" rims can fit.

P.S. for ones who don't know, lower ET number will bring the wheel more outside, bigger ET number will pull the wheel inside.

You should be able to fit 18" as long as you get the correct offset so the rims don't scrape the calipers (too much offset) or the tyres don't scrub the wheel arches (too little offset), 40 might do the latter.

ET45 Would be fine, would only stick out 6mm more. To be honest ET40 would be ok, too, and would obviously stick out 11mm more. Would fill the arches a tad more, and look better. As for Dynamics, s'pose in theory would handle a tad better, coz of the slightly wider track. But probably in reality, you wouldn't notice any difference. ??

I did it ?

Your wheels are so handsome.
My insurance company may refuse compensation by changing the original car design, so I have no choice.

That is weird. My dealer offered me a 17 inch 215 set on my ER.
If you can return them, then try. I could not fit 17" ET45 (ET51 would be even worse), because discs and calipers are too big. We already mounted tire on a rim and faced a shock after that LOL.
The only answer is that discs are from XPower. With such a big discs, brakes will last 150.000km 😆

What was the tyre and rim width that did not fit on yours?
Tire is unimportant thing in whole of equation. Rim was 7.5J ET45. In theory, that is even easier to install instead of 7J ET51 (original). Simply it wont fit because discs and calipers are too big. Calipers scrape on a rim, it needs additional 5mm.
