Hi,

Wondering if anyone has advice on:
1. How doable replacing the charging flap/door of an MG5 Trophy is
2. The best place to buy online?

It was snapped off while open (car was charging) presumably by someone who just walked by and it bent in the wrong direction. I've been told warranty won't cover (nevermind that this seems like a pretty poor design fault given the likelihood of it happening while charging publicly) and dealer wants over £150 plus labor.

The hinge is snapped and I think plastic welding not a good idea given how much it will be opened/shut; happy to buy the actual replacement part but just wondering if it's a small enough job I can do this myself... I saw another thread from 2022 with someone having a similar issue but it didn't appear to have concluded in a way of DIY-ing the replacement.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like it requires front bumper removal...

Full documented procedure was shown by @Ian MG5 when he fitted front fog lights to a PFL.

Plastic welding wouldn't be a bad thing to try as you effectively have nothing to lose if it doesn't work.

True. Looks like bumper needs to come off to get to the hinge to do it though

This is incredibly helpful. Thank you!
