Not an MG
Hi new owner here. I've bought my mpg3 hybrid cause l liked the mpg, I've done 100 miles so far but my mpg is only 49mpg what number of miles should I do to start getting the advertised mpg ps. I'm not a fast driver. Thanks

49 is respectable in cold weather. Are you driving around town in heavy traffic or on long runs or a mixture? The engine will be tight for the first few thousand km.

Yes you're right I'll put a few more miles on, the driving is mainly town work I tried the sport mode for a while to see how good the pick up was, very good

Nothing wrong with 49 around town.

I'm coming up to 1000 miles on the clock. My average is between 69 and 74mpg. did 22 miles M'way yesterday and clocked 61.4. Wasn't hanging about, but not speeding.

I've only done a couple of hundred miles so far, and the overall (long term) is 62mpg, on my journeys of over 10 miles I get close to 70mpg, shorter trips are about 55mpg. I always use regen-3, and either Eco or Normal, but I honestly don't think there's any difference between Eco and Normal.

Further to my last, I always drive in 'Normal' and number 2 re gen. When I first collected the car from the dealer, (11miles away), I clocked 78.4mpg!

1. Around town mixed driving 20 miles round trip to work
2. Eco mode regen 2. 57.1

Not hit the magic 60 yet. Car only done 650 miles from the dealership.

I'm thinking about getting an MG3, and mpg like you guys are getting would be fine. My dealer told me I could expect >60mpg based on my typical driving - mainly short journeys around town. However, one of the other threads mentions that the MG3 will run on ICE when the ambient temp is <10°C. Given that the average daytime temperature for 5-6 months of the year is around or less than that*, and most journeys are morning and evening so likely to be <10°C, surely this will have a significant effect on the mpg?

When I said that the combustion engine will, in most cases, start up when the outside temperature is < 10°C, I meant to emphasise that this start-up is obviously temporary, often lasting less than 1 or 2 minutes, which is enough time for me to close the doors of my garage, which are not automatic ?.
After that, the EV mode will take over.
As with all hybrids (but also diesel, electric and petrol cars) fuel consumption will be slightly higher during this period, by around 10% at most.

Still on first tank of petrol! 49.8 mpg with a mixture of short and medium length journeys but mainly short. Miles per tank creeping up to 480 at setting 3 or high KERS recovery. Basically, be brave! The car is clearly on a learning curve, just like us! I still have over half a tank left so I really have no idea of the final score.

That's what I'm showing and am a little disappointed but haven't done many miles yet

It was the post from Evor on this thread that raised some concern for me:

Of course, the engine always on for the 3 mile trip doesn't mean the EV hasn't kicked in, but the 30mpg is worrying.

I've just had a drive out to see a friend, and I deliberately tried to achieve a high mpg, and this is the result.

At one point it was just over 80mpg, but after getting back home and parking up it dropped to 78.5mpg. This was in Eco and Regen3, and I didn't go over 55mph.
