i have got a MG5 trophy facelift 74 plate and would like to fit mud flaps just been to MG dealer they don't have any listed for the facelift model only the pre facelift they took a front one out of the box for me to put up against my car all looked ok apart from the raised part which didn't go right into the hole i looked at a pre facelift model with flaps on and the raise bit ad gone right into the hole

I bought these: TONLINKER Car Mudguard For MG5 Electric MG 5 EV 2022 2023 Mudguards Splash Guards Fender Mudflaps Accessories - AliExpress 34

They fit perfectly, although I've only mounted the front set so far.

Ones I’ve been looking at the MG dealers are a different design by the look at them if I could get to know if the inner wheel arch plastic trim are the same on the facelift and the pre facelift then the ones at MG dealers would be ok his your car a new facelift model thanks for your help.

Yes, mine is the facelift. Maybe it's the camera angles, but the flaps they sent look to me to be the same as the dealer ones you've shown.

The area you mention on the front flaps does go right into the arch liner holes when actually fitting them, you have to work it in a bit, as it's an interference fit, but they end up fitting perfectly.

The rear view of the car is much improved when the rear ones are on.

I bought a set of Aliexpress mudflaps and would have sworn they were wrong until I actually forced them on. The rubber is more flexible than you think and they go on fine. I wouldn't call them a perfect fit but near enough although you will probably need longer screws than the ones provided.

The ones yesterday at the MG dealers was only £18.70 they just seem to stand proud from going right into the hole i think i will go back and buy them only £4 or so more than the Aliexpress ones

For dealer flaps, that's a very good price, they're normally something crazy like £60 or so.

i need to work out what size tapping screw to buy to replace the one which have come with them as everyone are saying they won't be long enough.

Are people replacing the original screws etc in the inner wheel arch plastic or are they just overlaying the mud flaps over the inner plastic and screwing it to anything unsure about the one in the recessed hole I’ll looks like it’s a bolt head will have to let the weather clear up and have a look thanks for your help.

From memory, only one of the screws needs replaced and the one supplied is not long enough. I think it's the bolt head can't be reused but don't quote me on that.

It's nothing to do with the head, it's just slightly too short as it's only just long enough to start with. Once you add the extra thickness of the flap plastic, you need a similar but slightly longer screw.

I tried fitting the AliExpress ones to the FL MG5 today. I can't get enough screwdriver onto the rears with the wheels on so they'll have to wait.

I thought the fronts weren't going to go down properly but I got down and looked under the car and the edge of the flap under the car needs gentle coaxing over the sill.

Tomorrow if it's dry and snow-free I may revisit the dashcam refit. I couldn't get the cover off the fuse box last time and stopped trying as I was getting frustrated with it, which wouldn't be good for either of us!!!

Yes, my rears are waiting until the wheels come off for another job too, you can't fit them properly with the wheels in place.

Same here, albeit mine's an MG4 but the principle is the same.
The last of the AliExpress upgrades I've got to install.

Yes but the other guy was asking which screw needs replaced. I was just identifying it as the one with a bolt head.
