My 23 plate MG4SE replaces an ageing Fiat panda. I have a couple of questions and I'm sure there will be a few more to follow.

Right now I want to set up Android Auto. It's working but I need to do a bit more to set it up - I'll work that out. My question is: how can I thread the USB cable up from the socket to the mat that the phone sits on? I've done some searches but not found the answer yet.

The other query is Autohold.I can't see the autohold symbol on either screen but it does work.

Remove the rubber mat, it takes a bit of force, thread the cable through the hole in the shelf and refit the mat.

As above.

For the mat, I used a large flat-blade screw driver pushed from below up through one of the wire feed slots in the shelf ... this made it easy to pop off the rubber mat. Feed your USB cable up through the relevant hole and then slide it through the slot in the rubber mat between its hole and the mat edge. Once done you can refit the mat - it pushes down and clicks into place quite positively.

(Example image from when I first did it ... I've now rejigged the setup so the USB cable feeds up through the other hole, so that the volume/power buttons on my phone face me rather than the dash)

For autohold ... the P symbol turns green when it is active (by using a firm-ish press on the brake pedal once you've stopped). Pressing the accelerator (or the brake pedal again) disengages autohold.

Welcome.

We've had our 23 plate SE for over a year and its going great. We've had no issues with the autohold symbol behind the wheel (If I remember correctly it just changes colour if it is on). It is a great feature for when you are driving in stop-start traffic.

I think you've had the answers to the questions already, but this is a great community if you have any more.

Enjoy!

You also might want to invest in some non slip material as the phone tends to slide off the mat otherwise

Not when plugged in to a USB cable ... at least mine never has anyway. :)

But then again my phones have either been in a gel case or a leather-type case, so those materials may give better traction with the rubber mat.

How about using a wireless blutooth dongle that plugs in to the USBA socket? mines worked flawlessly with AA since I plugged it in a couple of weeks ago. Phone stays in my pocket.
Ditto - except when I'm on a longer trip wherein I'll plug the phone into the USB cable ... which is plugged in to a 12V USB power adapter that is plugged in to the 12V socket ... so that the phone gets charged up enroute. :)

Thank you Ian. Solved both issues! I hadn't spotted the rectangular slot in the phone "mat". Good video for the Autohold - now I can see it.

I never take calls when driving, so I wouldn't know as it won't be an issue for me as I'm the one who plays the music and rarely have anyone else in the car. I would assume the music gets volume lowered when a call is active.
