MG3 Hybrid+ Luxury
I have just bought a new MG3 Hybrid+ Essence here in NZ. (I think it is called a Trophy on other markets.) The only difference seems to be the Essence does not have heated seats or steering wheel but has a tilt/slide sunroof. I am enjoying the smooth quiet ride and have mastered most of the controls but have a few questions.

1. I find the centre display is very bright at night. I know it can be dimmed down in the settings, but is there any way to automatically dim the display at night?

2. There is a warning when exceeding speed limit and I appreciate this as it is very easy to go over limit in this car, but it seems to sound just 1k over the limit. Other cars I have had this can be adjusted to say 5k over limit. Can this be adjusted on MG3?

3. When using Android Auto via USB connection I can't go back to home page or climate control or radio etc without disconnecting connection. Is this normal?

Any help much appreciated to continue my enjoyment in this car.

Good morning @mgnz, welcome to MGEVs. (y)

1 - Select the 'Settings' icon from the main menu screen, then under 'General', select the background mode you want, either Light, Dark, or Auto.

2 - You can't change the speed sign recognition warning system, but you can alter the overspeed warning up or down in 5km increments.

3 - Sorry I don't use Android Auto.

3. Press the home button to return (hardware key available) no need to disconnect the Smartphone.

3) if you are running Android auto, press the physical HOME button to access the other settings. The connection with Android auto will not be interrupted, but your smartphone must be connected by cable.

Thanks for that. That works. Don't know why I didn't see it. I have a wireless adapter for Android Auto and it works well.
MGNZ. Good morning, or whatever your time is. Can you tell me the name/make of your AA adapter, please. I'm currently searching for one that works in the MG3. There seems to be conflicting reports from members here, so I can't make up my mind. H

Hi, I purchased Motorola MA1 when I got the MG3 last May, it works well, connects automatically when I get in the car. I can only recall a couple of times that its lost contact, compared to a lot of others this is pretty good.

I have bought one of these gadgets. It connects my phone's Android Auto, to the car, as soon as I get in it, and allows me to go in and out of Android Auto, once it's connected.

Sorry I can't help you with the make/model as it has no brand name on it or on the instructions. I purchased it on line from our local NZ ebay equivalent (TradeMe). I have attached a photo and a link to the site I purchased it from.

Hope that helps.

I have tried to post the link I have bought.
I first did a Google search for an Android Auto adapter that was suitable for my MG3 Hybrid. This came up highly recommended. Both me and my wife use Google Pixel phones, and this works superb. It depends who gets in the car first, as to whose phone connects. Hers connected first today, but when she left the car, mine connected automatically.
The only downside is, that you will have to charge your phone from a different usb port, like the one in the rear passenger area.
