New Car Day - Initial questions

At a guess would it be A/C uses the aircon to cool the car to set temp and A/C blowing could run the fan for fress air in to the cabin with out running the A/C compressor?

Did anyone ever find an answer to this? Blow or not to blow? It's cold outside now and the last thing I want is it to blast the cabin with colder air.

The ac can blow hot air
I do this

Once we get to frozen windscreen weather, we will be using FRONT WINDOW to defrost. I did change a setting in the car which switches rear heater on when front blower is on...I can't remember where that was and... its a bit chilly to go and check now?

Hi all,

Been following this forum very closely over past several months and after lots of delays and patience, I am pleased to announce I finally collected by MG ZS EV LR Trophy on Friday from Chorley Group :)

Special thanks to @Miles Roberts CG for all his support and guidance during the process.

Early days but happy to have the car finally (ordered Nov ‘21 before anyone asks!).

Whilst I am getting used to the car, few quick questions if I may:

1) Got genuine ZS EV car mats from the dealer but they did fitted them for me in case they get dirty before collection. Tried fitting them at home but not able to get the clips for the front mats to locken. Do I need to press down very hard to hear a click and then rotate the knob to lock them in place?

2) I use the USB stick for songs. The car when started seems to sometimes start from where I left last time on usb music and sometimes just goes to radio and I have to manually go back to usb music again. Anyone else had this issue?

3) The KERS one mentioned on another thread is annoying as it seeks to be limited at each KERS level and doesn’t increase/change at all while pressing brake pedal - very strange. Worst is the car doesn’t remember KERS setting which is crucial for different driving styles. Maybe a software update addresses this.

4) How to check version of infotainment and what’s the latest for LR Trophy model? I am being told mine has the latest but I still have the Sat Nav dead reckoning issue that was supposed to be fixed by now?

5) I noticed the range shown on iSmart is slight different to what car shows. Anyone else noticed this?

I don't think any of the things you mention with KERS are the actual issue with it.

Fundamentally, it's lacking one pedal driving and on its strongest setting it just isn't strong enough.

I wouldn't bother with the Sat Nav at all personally, the software and UI just aren't where they need to be. Use Android Auto etc.

Does anybody have a tip for lowering the screen brightness? It’s a pain that it is always so bright even if I leave it at low. I go into settings. Change to max bright then back to lowest setting and that seems to dim the screen to a tolerable level.

Is there a better way.

I agree with all the above comments on hvac and heating. I am still in the coat and gloves stage of range management.

@N2STY I didn’t even know you could pull downwards on the Home Screen. I was always swiping from right to left then going into settings. Thanks for that post.

Still learning new things about the car after two weeks of ownership.

Only found out yesterday that you push the mirror adjustment switch downwards to fold them inwards. Now I can get through my gate without banging the mirrors!

Interesting Bodgerx. I'm the opposite. Wouldn't use one pedal anyway and always use vehicle satnav. (Won't use lane keep assist either.) Each to his/her own.??

I'm all for the vehicle Nav. Used to use it all of the time in the Ioniq and the previous VW Golf I had.

The one in the MG isn't worth anyone's frustration, it's bad.

This just illustrates the overall problem with the MG UI.

It's designed like an old Android tablet OS and not something operated in car where things need to be simple clear and obvious.

Too many things are hidden behind sliding UI elements (and other one off designs) that need a lot of familiarity and memory to work your way through. It's a mess.

I have used mine a couple of times, so a bit early to write it off in favour of ? maps, but when I typed in ‘Ikea’ it gave me a list of every one apart from my nearest - Milton Keynes. That was puzzling! It‘s been open since 2005.
I can use voice control with my phone sat nav, which is so much simpler.
