I’m planning to give up on my discovery sport as it has been back to the dealers 10 times in the last year. with a new recall just issued and a faulty sensor which has just tripped I will have 2 more to add to that soon ugh!
so I started looking for something else, I’m really interested to see if the HS PHEV will do it for me. I have 2 must haves. 1 is that I have a rigid inflatable boat (which weighs less than 1000kg) that I drop in the water once every couple of weeks. Will the MG have the umf to pull it up the slipway? I think it should as I have had less powerful cars with only 200nm of torque and they could just about do it. The HS will have 350nm so I should be fine…. Right? Hope I have enough traction?
next is about once per week I drive 250 miles on a long run. I can get almost free electricity at home thanks to the solar panels and batteries and I’m hoping that the PHEV will massively cut my commuting costs whilst also saving me quite a lot on the long run.
What do you think? The only way I will know about the boat is by buying the car, fitting a towbar and finding out… and that would be a very bad time to find out I was wrong. btw I dont tow the boat any distance couple of miles or so, so im just worried about towing up the slipway. also MG dont have towers for the new HS so ill have to get a third party to fit it. Any help or advice would be appreciated
