Hi all,

Just taken ownership of a 71 plate Exclusive 61kWh.

So far, loving the drive.

Just regarding the speed sign recognition, has anyone found a national speed limit sign whilst on motorway makes the car think you're over speed. It thinks that limit is 60mph no matter what. Can you change its tolerance? It's just very distracting having it flashing in the dashboard, and means you can't use the automatic features of speed settings with MG pilot.

Thanks all
Nathan

It still does it on the facelift version. Obviously the Chinese are confused by our road signs

The sign is "national speed limit" which varies by vehicle and road type. The car can read this as 60, but can't tell what type of road it is from the sign. The cars speed limit system is not linked to gps/map data, which imo is very much needed to make these systems usable in the way intended.

I spoke to MGUK today about this....No planed update gonna be available or in the offing.....!!! Very frustrating/annoying/dangerous!!

Press and hold the ok button to turn off. Like a number of features would be nice to be able to permanently turn off. But hey ho, if it bothers me enough I have the option to disable for that journey.

Although it's frustrating I now just ignore it on motorways as I know the speed limit to be 70 anyway. Where it's really annoying and could really do with being linked to the GPS is on back roads in areas I don't know very well where sometimes it will give totally the wrong speed. If it's not fit for purpose as this isn't then there should be a way of permanently disabling it. Both my previous car and my wife's Corsa electric were linked to the GPS and were/are pretty flawless.

I don't look at mine except to occasionally confirm what i think the limit is, if I'm in any doubt. If I disagree with it I'll just ignore it and drive cautiously (not slowly) until I get visual confirmation.

I can't see how it's that distracting, annoying or dangerous if you are properly concentrating on your driving and the road ahead. If it were bothering me I'd turn it off. I'm with @Lguk, it probably isn't fit for purpose

On the plus side. Googles Android Auto upgrade to the Coolwalk UI means I now get GPS/map related speed limits on the infotainment display. These are usually more accurate than what the car reads.

My 22 plated LR will not read 20mph signs. It picks up stickers on the backs of lorries.

To actually enable automatic speed limitation and it be usable, the system needs to use a combination of GPS/map data and local road signage.

For now it's a nice indicator of what the limit may be if you've missed some signs. But that's about its only use.

My Trophy doesn't recognise 20mph either.
