Got a new phone last week, and blow me if it doesn’t have a soft switch that limits charging to 85% to prolong battery life.

Do you also have to support it in the middle on an out stretched index finger to get a balanced charge?Got a new phone last week, and blow me if it doesn’t have a soft switch that limits charging to 85% to prolong battery life.![]()
Should make a huge difference to battery longevity. Normal phones do their best to kill the battery within a year. Presumably so you buy another one.Got a new phone last week, and blow me if it doesn’t have a soft switch that limits charging to 85% to prolong battery life.![]()
Under Settings/Battery you should an item Protect Battery - this limits charging to 85%Ooh, I have quite a new Samsung Galaxy. I wonder whether it has that feature? Can you tell me how to find it?

Thank gus for your post. I just set my 85% charging limit on my new Galaxy phone. The only reason to replace my phone is security with old Android 10.Got a new phone last week, and blow me if it doesn’t have a soft switch that limits charging to 85% to prolong battery life.![]()
That's looks very similar to the option on my Android. On mine it doesn't limit the max charge to 80%, it means it fast charges to 80% then trickle charges from 80 to 100% at a rate to be ready at 100% when you need it (next morning alarm or whatever).
