New to EV - new to my MG 4 Trophy

You have to place car in ready state (press brake pedal) before turning off LKA, otherwise as soon as you press brake pedal it will turn back on. On the dash if the car and lanes symbol has yellow lanes, it's off. White it is on.
The number of times that one has caught me out!

I find it utterly baffling how it’s been decided that all these safety systems that just aren’t technically ready yet have to be defaulted on. I don’t blame MG so don’t get annoyed at them LKA is basically dangerous. It’s terrible on all cars that have it.

Speed limiters are next and I’m praying that doesn’t come in an update. It’s not going to work either. My SE often has the wrong speed so I turn that off at the start of every journey too to avoid the incorrect speed limit flashing on the screen.

My next car is going to be a Renault. They are sacrificing NCAP safety stars by allowing you to save your assistance settings and turn them off with a single button!

It's great on my MG ZS EV Mark 1.Yet it defaults off, being an older car.

On my ZS, it's right about 95% of the time. Though we have different speed signs in Australia, which may be easier to recognise, or perhaps they are just more similar to the signs that the system is trained on. I find it very useful, and would not want to be without it.

However, I won't turn on enforced limits, and would hate for that to default on. Not because I exceed the speed limits, but because of the 5% incorrect recognition.

LKA doesn't even show on the options in the menu on mine until you enter Ready mode.
The things that do show then go off when you press the pedal are seat and steering wheel heaters.

So.... I took the MG to the service department, to have the "Software for the granny charger updated". The MG service department looked at the charger I was given by the garage and basically said "WTF is that ?" Turns out the charger is actually a dummy charger. When we used the proper granny charger, the car charges with no problems. And also - as the car was 5 months old (and is the old model ie doesn't have the rear wiper) the software was out of date - the update has toned down the lane assist - and given an easy way to switch it off via swipe down on the main console.

The car is now feeling ok to drive - no more twitches and bleeps. Oh and I can charge it at home on a plug until my fast charger is fitted.

Now waiting for a letter of apology from the MG garage that sold me the car - apparently it is on its way....

This is a lesson in new stuff really - the garage selling electric cars must get much more up to speed with their checklists (and training) - I had never seen a granny plug before so had no idea what one looked like !

You couldn't make it up. I bet they put a dummy charger in the showroom model so if it gets nicked it's cheaper to replace. But they must have realised their mistake when they had a working granny charger too many but had a dummy missing?

I meant dummy charger not a dummy staff member as they have an excess of those ?

Well apparently they have one less member of staff as of a couple of weeks ago....
