No to One Pedal driving

You're missing the latest update, which changes single tap to 1mph and tap+hold to 5 mph increments ... far easier to manage. Plus the latest update removes the slowing down on gentle, sweeping bends. :)
Oh right I thought we were up to date as we only got it from the dealer a few months ago!

Car is having is 1 year service tomorrow (plus installation of a new door handle which hopefully has working button) - will ask if they can do this!

The sudden slow down on bends is a bit annoying so pleased if that is sorted.

Guess our highways have less speed variation, 110 km/hr all the way
Yes maybe yours are more steady. I think it is more where there is some slow moving traffic ahead.

Sometimes on a two-lane highway you get one lorry overtaking something else on a big hill and everyone gets bunched up behind.

The A34 trunk road near us has a lot of lorries and caravans and lots of junctions and parking areas so there are lots of slow downs!

You shouldn't need to ask, but ... it is update SCUK001 that you need to sort various things - including the ACC change. :)

SC means Service Campaign, which denotes a mandatory update that should be applied during servicing. (RC means Recall Campaign - that's an update that must be applied at the earliest opportunity. There has only been 1 recall for the MG4; your car should have already had it).

Well I had the car serviced today, while replacing the non-functional door handle.

£160 + £3.50 for washer fluid (which I didn't notice having been charged for until after paying).

No change to the software relating to the ACC.
I quoted your post above but was told that the car has all its updates. Dealer also claimed that non-recall updates are only installed if there is a problem with the car.

Annoyed about the washer fluid as well. I've got 3 bottles of the stuff (well, one is deionised water from our dehumidifier) in the garage but didn't put any in as I thought I'd be getting some free.

SOH was listed as 94% which was disappointing!

It was checked over twice in the past four months.

I feel like I've paid £160 just for the AA renewal to be honest.

Your dealer is lying ... SC is Service Campaign so is to be done when the car is, well, serviced! ? If your ACC functionality hasn't changed then they absolutely, 100% have not installed SCUK001.

Did they actually plug the car into the laptop to check? If they only checked via VRM/VIN then this sometimes misses updates that are actually listed - the car has to be plugged in.

This was very poor by your dealer/service agent ... especially for that price! ? I would be raising a formal complaint with the dealer principal.

I have emailed Waylands about SCUK001 and will let you know how they respond.

I also suggested that they don't put screenwash in without informing the customer they will charge for this and asking if they still want it.

Your point about the MG assist benefit of servicing in another thread was well-made.

Hence my comment that I feel that is the reason for having the service done. The car doesn't have an engine and was bought from the dealership a few months ago (when it was checked over, as it was a couple of months later with the door handle investigation).

SCUK001
Waylands called me back (promptly) to say that the car is reported to have had SCUK001 applied 1 year ago and there were no further updates due, so it was not connected for any software checks/updates.

So you were right that dealers don't check the software as a matter of course but rather go by what is recorded on the MG system for that car. I guess it makes sense for MG to keep a record of which car has what software so they know what needs updates/recalls. But it would mean that any errors on the MG system aren't going to be caught.

I bought the car from a different branch of the dealership so it isn't like it would have been the same technician.

Anyway, the good news is I was told I can bring the car in any time to get it hooked up to the laptop. So we can see what is what at that point.

I'll see when I get a chance to pop in (it isn't that convenient to get there from home) and whether it will be possible before we go on holiday in July.

Washer fluid
Also on the washer fluid apparently MG requires this to be drained and refilled during the service to make sure it is fresh. So if I had topped it up it would have been emptied anyway.

They offered to refund but I admitted it was possibly part of the price I was quoted and I just didn't realise it was included as a separate item until I saw the receipt.

I love one pedal driving. I also have gen 1 MG4 and was sad I do not have One Pedal.

I have changed my mind now. Since there is so much news on corroded discs, I am now of the opinion that we should be using our brakes regularly just to keep everything cleaned up. Now I am assuming that one pedal does not use the break (like I would) to come to a complete stop. Correct me if I'm wrong please because I like to know.

So for next car I will look for either no one pedal or a switch to switch it off because I know if I have it I will use it.
The car maker can easily fit discs that don’t corrode, just a small upcost that they dont seem to want.

I'm now imaging herbie - "do you want a software update, herbie?" "Beep boooop."

It is very easy to judge when to take pressure off the accelerator and glide to the turn, junction or whatever on the regen.

There's plenty enough braking force in level 3 to act like OPD Lite. (At normal road speeds)

All my opinion of course.

I learnt to use the car from the get-go, with the default settings, and as it happens, its the way I prefer to drive the car 99% of the time.
When I switch on OPD my regen level is S. Is this correct as I have not seen it mentioned anywhere?

Yep ours does this.

Also found today that we could engage OPD at 95% SoC on our X-Power (but that is with all modules and infotainment updated to the latest versions, so may make a difference)

Update on my saga.

Finally made it to the dealership today.

They the car briefly but didn't update anything.

Insisted that the update has been applied, but agreed that there is a new update that can be done under warranty because I've had issues with the radio freezing.

Booked in for mid-August.

So I don't think I'll get to confirm Siteguru's claims because they are not confirming what update does what.

I never use OPD, but Regen brakes work after just a couple of miles of driving, starting with 100% SOC.
