@electricsidecar I appreciate your work to support the MG4. Having a good choice of solutions provides the best for everyone.
Agreed, although we had other "signals" that suggests we should keep a close eye on it. Including a sudden drop in overall pack voltage (and reported soc) while the vehicle was off (and without a significant change in external temperature). For LFP 94% is nothing to worry about, 95% is typical after a year's average driving but there are variations between packs and driving conditions / styles etc...
Pack voltage last 30 days from the API:I'm quite interested in logging the cell pack voltages and temps to see if we can detect any signals of an early failure. This is one of the things you cannot do via API for example
Makes sense. The value add is making it easier to access.I'm aiming for Electric Sidecar to bring value to vehicle owners who want minimal configuration paired with maximum understanding of their vehicle. I see this as a bit of a spectrum on which there exist many products similar to Home Assistant and Electric Sidecar.
Neat. There are OBD readers with internet connectivity actually!
I've no idea what that means.Totally understandable! Trip routing is a difficult feature to get right at global scale. Electric Sidecar takes an intentionally different approach and provides a "fog of war" map instead to encourage exploration.
Turning on history mode in CarPlay covers the map in a cloud layer that gets permanently erased as you travel around. It's kind of the opposite of a trip navigation feature haha.I've no idea what that means.
Do you get detail similar to these 2 images ?I'm quite interested in logging the cell pack voltages and temps to see if we can detect any signals of an early failure.
I'm still not understanding. It adds a cloud layer that is erased?Turning on history mode in CarPlay covers the map in a cloud layer that gets permanently erased as you travel around. It's kind of the opposite of a trip navigation feature haha.
Hey electricsidecar, I would be interested to test out and give feedback. I use vGate vLinker MC+ for ODB2 connection and I have both iOS and Android devices (if I am not mistaken app is strickly iOS currently though)Just found this thread from a Google search because one of the Electric Sidecar users owns an MG MG4 and was hoping to connect their OBD to the app. If anyone on this forum would be interested in helping test the OBD scanning functionality, I'm happy to provide promo codes for Electric Sidecar — Electric Sidecar - Automotive assistant for iOS for more details. I don't have access to any MG vehicles in the states so I'm hoping someone can verify the PIDs I'll be adding to GitHub - ElectricSidecar/MG-MG4
@electricsidecar for some reason I cannot reply your message, anything I type gets an error asHey electricsidecar, I would be interested to test out and give feedback. So, you are getting meaningful results from car scanner? My CS data is bollocks. Thanks, I use my Vlink OBD with Car Scanner and ABRP and love the accuracy but hate the alarm issue. I will try disconnecting BT before locking. I also have a Carlinkit unit now so will be trying using that instead as it powers off when the car is locked.
Is that Icar pro 4 Vgate V2.2?Finally found Obd2 Vgate that works properly, but temporary MG4 profile in CarScanner app makes lots of annoying stuff during setup
That is reasonable. The 64kWh NMC pack has a usable capacity of 61.7kWh ... that's 2.3kWh of buffer, which is what degrades first hence SOH can remain at or near "100%" for longer. That's also partly why LFP packs seem to degrade more in the first year, as there is very little buffer.![]()
My almost 2 years MG4 SE SR (so LFP model) is at 92% SoH..For LFP 94% is nothing to worry about, 95% is typical after a year's average driving but there are variations between packs and driving conditions / styles etc...
