Ok, you lot. What did you get for Crimbo? 🎅🎄🎁

Not sure if it was braised or boiled, but it was hot in the motorhome that's for sure, had some prawns which the wife complains about because she doesn't like the smell, so that was my Christmas present, being allowed to eat them indoors o_O ;) and I got to sleep in on boxing day .......

It's amazing what you can buy online these days. Today, four blackbirds arrived from Amazon! The wife says they are not blackbirds, they're collie birds. Whatever they are, I'm not sure how they'll get on with the three french hens which came yesterday from AliExpress, because at the moment they are roosting in the pear tree with two turtle doves off eBay. The pear tree arrived on Christmas day, along with a pheasant . . . or was it a partridge, I always get them mixed up . . . anyway, that bird flew off as soon as I planted the pear tree in the garden.

God knows what's going to arrive tomorrow. Evri say they have a parcel to deliver.

Seasons greetings to you all, and have a grreat new year.

Alan.

All I can say is good luck to you, Alan.

I'm on wife number 6. After asking me what I'd like for Christmas, they have all bought me these presents and I still haven't got any further than this...

A little late replying to this post , I thought I'll wait to see how things panned out.
I got a bag of bah! humbugs and a touch of food poisoning.!
In the recent inclement weather may I thank Freeview for providing a visual feast of entertainment ( irony ) over the Christmas period, no wonder all the members have freshly cleaned cars! Tonight's ,best of a bad bunch could be Groundhog Day but I.ve seen it before and before and before????? 😀 Happy New Year.

What a shame. I watched Feathers McGraw with Wallace and Gromit on Christmas Day. My Daughter says I nodded off a couple of times which will account for me thinking it was good but very short 🤦‍♂️
However I watched the whole thing yesterday and was enthralled - everything about it was superb.
Definitely the best film I’ve watched this year 🤩

I'd forgot about that one , again excellent , highlighting the Lancs/ Yorkshire rivalry. Apart from W+G, Gavin and Stacey and Black Panther everything was a repeat or a old film. I didn't come to France and not pay my TV licence to have rehashed lazy programming stuffed down my throat. o_O Anyone who mentions Bullet Train, it was on Prime several months ago, so I left it out. Even the advertisements for MG seem to have disappeared? too modern I guess. Down to my last humbug.

I returned yesterday from my Christmas and New Year’s break in Portugal, had an early tea in Wagamama, and then home to watch Feathers McGraw with a couple of glasses of Malbec. All superb!!
It’s jolly chilly though…….

My Christmas present arrived late; a Rigol DHO802 oscilloscope. 12-bit, huge screen, lots of features. Thanks, Santa!

It's only the bottom of the range (only 2-channel and only 60 MHz bandwidth), but for my purposes it will be perfect. It replaces an old Tektronics discarded from a local University, 30 years old, and the screen developed a large yellow blob where the pixels are reversed so the screen is almost unreadable, and channel one's BNC socket was loose. The knobs were starting to crumble with age.

That's only two scopes from my original, made myself when a teenager, featuring a disposals 5BP1 CRO tube (those things were long and insensitive!). Originally with valves, I updated it to use transistors a few years later. It was so big that I put it into a stand with wheels. The Rigol is the size of a smallish tablet; it's so cute.
