MG4 Trophy LR
Hello Everyone,

I have an Oct 2022 MG4 Trophy (so one of the early UK cars). I was running R33 software for an age and after a protracted battle got my dealer this week to upgrade, under warranty, to what I now know to be ver R63.

I was especially looking forward to one pedal driving being an option but this has not appeared on the HMI (I've seen images/videos knowing where it should be). Are the early MG4's compatible with One Pedal?. I've looked on posts without success on this topic but do see reference to 'phase 1 cars' so imagine my MG4 is one of the Phase 1's, does this mean it is incompatible?.

By way of a footnote if anyone has any little nuggets of wisdom / hints 'n tips to share about R63 I'd appreciate members contributions.

Advance thanks to all.

As far as I know the non window wiper ones will never get it as its something physical in the car as well not software. Shame as I also have the same spec as you.
I've heard that argument made a few times ... I still don't believe it. The car is perfectly able to come to a stop when using ACC/TJA so the core functionality (being able to use the brakes automatically at very low speed) is already in the car. I think it's more that MG (or SAIC rather) don't want to invest the time in bringing OPD to the early cars.

So yes - there may be minor hardware differences, but there's no functional reason why the early cars can't get OPD - merely a lack of will.

Yes thanks, I spotted one of your posts about ACC/TJA - even on R33 car with TJA (think it is) would come to a complete stop so I was saying to myself why no one pedal?.

As for lack of will; that rings true with MG with my time with the car. R63 a nice refresh though on first impressions 2 days in, R33 was buggy as hell.........

It is one of the unknowns that my Trophy on R33 has no major problems, the only annoying one being Bluetooth disconnecting every few weeks for which I have posted my reconnection routine.

I had multiple Bluetooth pairings on my (Samsung) phone to a point it would not work. 2 or 3 times a month I'd have to clear down and delete a dozen or so MG Bluetooth pairings from my phone. About 1 in 6 times the radio would not start or work on starting the car. Would have to get out close/lock or power cycle the car OFF through the HMI to get it to work. Android Auto would not always work each start too.
Left favourite button on steering wheel would always dual cycle the Ventilation shortcut no matter what function I allocated it.
Generally was buggy, slow to power up on start. If if made a short stop to grab a coffee say at a petrol station things would not then reboot up smoothly each time. Glad to see the back of it.

It's good your install seems OK and robust 👍
