Orange cup warning light on dash

Yesterday I had a look at my car's settings. (I had accidentally turned off the front collision assist when turning off the speed limit detection, and stopped to rectify this.) Front collision assist is normally on and is in braking mode, and I realise that it's very obvious if it's turned off.

At the same time I looked at the driver fatigue warning setting and it was definitely on. I've never switched it off.

And yet my car has never done an emergency stop for no reason, and I have never seen the coffee cup at all, not even when driving for almost four hours without getting out of the car.

The emergency stop function has only ever stopped the car for me where it perceived a threat; its threat tolerance is obviously much lower than mine. Off or on I have never noticed a difference aside from the orange light telling me its off.

Thanks for all the replies. It’s definitely not the old eye sensor on dashboard, it’s not fitted.
Driving time and stops are the same each trip.
The car does have active grill that seems to be acting if inconsistently.
The front wheels might need tracking and wondered if a sensor is picking it up and misreading inconsistent driving?

This happened to me yesterday. We were held up for about 50 mins north of Bordeaux on the m’way, during which time we were either stationary or creeping along. When we got underway, we decided to continue straight to our re-charge point at LIDL’s about 45 mins away. However, prior to exiting the m’way the cup of coffee icon started to flash and a warning came up about the need to have a stop. We had been in the car for some 2 ½ hrs. However, this was accompanied by a chiming noise. But it WOULD NOT STOP! This was actually quite stressful and forced me to get off the m’way at the next possible exit and physically get out of the car. Only then would the chiming STOP. This appears to be yet another “safety” option that I need to turn off each time I get in the car (before a long journey) ?

Not sure you can turn it off before you start?

It's only happened to me twice in 2 years so doesn't really bother me, apart from being bl***y annoying when it does.

Thanks; no I have found the button to turn this off the MG Pilot tab. I would prefer not to have yet another "safety" feature to turn off, each time I set out but, in reality, we don't go on that many long journeys. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to to be warned about needing a break, it's the incessant clanging noise that really bugs me. For me yesterday, it was quite dangerous as it was distracting me from driving !!

In other words, another dangerous "safety feature".
