Hey all,

Didn't know if there was any existing thread for this but we have an order for the MG ZS EV LR Trophy in Red. We went with the GardX paint protection.

Just wanted to know if its actually worth it?
Can I get this done at a later date with someone else?
We were charged close to £250 for it and a friend placed an order this week and was charged £440 for it.

Just interested in hearing people's thoughts (Good/Bad) if you have purchased this.

It's never a good idea to take the dealer solution.
It is invariably very poor VFM.

Please don't waste your money you can buy them sort of products of ebay for a fraction of the cost and I still would not use them , if you want to add protection to your new car or any car, take it to a professional detailer worth every penny your be amazed at the difference ? have a look on this forum The Worlds Largest Resource for Detailers, Valeters and Car Cleaning

Check out EVM's channel. During lockdown, Andy did a video on how to prepare and apply paint protection. A hell of a lot cheaper than letting a dealer do it. Or Google "paint protection near me", they will be cheaper than letting a dealer put their mark up on it.

Mine has the GardX applied by the dealer (was £199) and it was great for the first 6 months, when it rained it washed the car for me.
But the coating didn't protect the paint from water marks and I ended up polishing them out and hence removing the coating.
Based on that I wouldn't bother next time, a local guy does a full valet and 3, 6 or 12 month ceramic coating protection, for less than £100 so I'd probably go for that instead.
The best one I had was on my old 2016 Gen4 Prius, the coating was called Gen3 and was still going strong until the car was traded in at 5 years old.

Fair enough, thanks all for your input on this. I'll probably get rid of that. No point having that stuck on if it's not going to last as long. Do you reckon doing this paint protection is better or having a PPF on is better? I know PPF is far more expensive. Just want to understand what would be best.
