Awful experience with Perrys Preston for me. I called and spoke to a sales rep about a 23 plate Long Range MG ZS they had advertised on the website. Went to test drive and the battery was only at 19%. Was enough to test drive and I liked the car so out the deposit down. On numerous occasions I mentioned I was specifically interested in the long range and was assured this was one.
Picked up the car with a full charge and the range only had about 200 miles showing. Was told this was due to the previous driving experience and the range would increase when I started driving. I also asked about the app and was told to download and connect.
Had the car over a week and was not able to connect to the app, found out it was still bound to the previous owner. Ended up having to speak to MG customer service as the sales rep apparently knew nothing about how to unbind the car. Mentioned again that I didn’t think I was getting the range from the car, but was told this was driving style.
After help on this forum, it was established I had been sold a short range car. Despite evidence to back this up, the dealer were still adamant it was a long range. Eventually we got to the truth and it was agreed it was short range. I offered my best deal to keep the car (£1k back) as I had paid the premium for long range, which I was then told they “would rather have the car back because they could sell it in no time” so I arranged to drop off and have my money returned. The following week before the drop off the dealer called me to see if I had “changed my mind” as they could now do a deal on a different car. Too little too late for me as I was reasonable in my previous request.
The handover day was smooth and the money was in my account before I signed any paperwork, only because I made it very clear that was my condition.
All in all, I would not recommend Perrys MG Preston, nor would I recommend any other Perrys dealership, as before buying the MG I had an awful experience at another branch with a faulty car, where their attitude was masochistic and sexist. I should have learnt the first time!
