Petition MG about Driver Settings

Mate I have a Cupra born an MG4 and a Megane etech on my drive, I have previously owned other EVs and the MG4 is the poorest implementation of onboard safety systems I've come across.

The main issue being there are actually some cars out there where it is working pretty much as it should and others where it is absolutely terrible.

Two years in and MG should have all cars working smoothly and safely by now.
So you use the single button for disabling LKA in the Megane?

My dad's car but every time I drive it it hasnt intruded at all, country and town roads. But yes the physical button is there to the right hand side of the steering wheel if you wanted to switch it off

I'm not praising MG on this, but at least it's not as bad as our Citroën. It has a physical button, but placed out of sight near the right knee so if you forget to turn it off for a country road journey, it takes 5 to 10 seconds to feel along the buttons to get the right one. It gives a decent tug but at least is more consistent as to when it does it.

I'm lucky with our MG in that it is quite benign so I can leave it on.

I have to ask why you have been a subsciber for years then if you find them woefully poor ?

The point here is that MG admitted the LKA fault following the Which Report and promised updates for free which haven't come.
Because I find their reviews of Baked Beans and Christmas Turkeys quite entertaining...

If I could add a function to my MG it would be the option to use the star buttons on the wheel to switch between cruise control and manual speed limit. I used the manual speed limit in my Peugeot all the time in city traffic, and find that to work better for me than cruise control. On the freeways of course the adaptive cruise control is very comfortable.

It’s such a hassle to go into the menus all the time, and especially annoying the car turns of the limiter automatically (but doesn’t actually revert fully back to cruise control either).

The lack of fine tuning the limiter, combined with the hassle of turning it on, sees me not use this function that I would otherwise probably use quite a lot.

I agree.

They already have put the ability to switch between the cruise control modes on the steering wheel buttons. It would seem a natural extension for all the speed control functions to be grouped together and selectable in the same way. It's unlikely to happen though.

Off topic notes about Which?

They have a limited number of respondents to any survey (max around 12,000)
The total number of respondents is split between brands/models (not all 12,000 respondents test every model, if you have 20 brands/models on test this can be 600 testers per model)

This impacts the accuracy of results (see all skin care adverts where 8/10 from a sample size of 20 is used)

Manufacturers know what a Which? test entails and can optimise their product to score well (similar to VW and Diesel gate)

You can use them as a general guide and they do tell you things to look out for, but as with all things you can get good and bad examples of any product. (See every post on this and any other car forum)
