So I picked up my new MG 5 today at 17:00hrs in Burnley. It had 97% on the battery when I got in it and I had a 98 mile journey to do. The journey home is approx 70% motorway driving. I had it in Eco mode with the lights and heater on, the outside temp was 8 degrees. I was driving normally through the various villages and put the cruise at 65mph on the motorway. I got home with 98 mile range left and 49% battery. That is pretty impressive to me, I had visions of only having maybe 50 miles left. I really enjoyed the drive home and I have to admit I did blip the throttle a couple of times :). I am looking forward to playing with it tomorrow and setting it all up to my taste.
Do the above figures seem ok to you more experienced EV drivers?

Thanks

Had my car delivered just over a week back. Did first long journey to work. Started with 100%, drove 150 miles on normal and arrived with 13% and 34 miles on estimated miles left counter. Was really pleased. No range anxiety at all.

A 50 miles round trip into the Peak District yesterday highlighted the big difference in consumption on hilly drives. Travelling to the Staffordshire Moorlands where my wife was resuming her volunteering with the Peak District National Park (allowed), our 5 used 14 per cent of the battery at the rate of 3.4 miles/kWh. Temperature averaged about 7deg, but by the time we had climbed up above 1,000ft, a total ascent of 700ft, it was a chilly 6deg. We didn't use the heating as we were going to be outside for a couple of hours anyway.

Different story heading home. Just 8 per cent used and an amazing rate of 5.9 miles/kWh. So overall, about 4.6 miles/kWh, including waiting several minutes at the two big roadworks and diversions plaguing Derbyshire just now.

Sounds like riding a bike! Hard work going up the hill but a LOT easier coming back down... Waiting at roadworks, traffic lights etc feels so much better than the ICE equivalent too.

Exactly so! The other week on my ebike I headed out onto the moors, miles of climbing and the computer told me the range left was about 13 per cent. Going back, finished with 3.6 miles descent to our house and it had gone up to 91! And that's without any regeneration!

What e-bike do you have?
It's a Cube Touring Pro. Love it. Where I live it's a hill in every direction and having lost some lung capacity nine years ago with a pulmonary embolism, the bike has enabled me to get out into the Peaks and ride to places I could never get to otherwise
