Pickup Today/Tomorrow (10/11 March 2025)

Good Afternoon

Picking up my new Xpower today or tomorrow.

Have got the VIN and managed to get the production date

View attachment 35413

Is that 12th of September or 9th December? I assume with either date , reading the forum, vibrations shouldn't be an issue?

Cheers

Very excited....
Got my VIN today as they wanted to register the car (even though they don’t have it yet) and used the link you provided. Mine has exactly the same build date!

Gotta be gloss black with silver accents on the White and Orange cars.

IMHO on the Orange it looks stunning .
Agree

On my Camden Grey I think this ‘new’ style it seems looks great. Black Badge cover arrived yesterday evening as well! Job for the weekend. Absolutely loving it so far!

I have done some looking around it does seem that R30 is the latest when it begins with SWI133 so looks like I am all up to date. Happy days!
Good to know, how is the Bluetooth connectivity if you use it? Will be interested to hear if it is stable now.
Also as you get to know car, how stable is the software in general?

Okay, here are some pics of side, front and back.
I’m picking mine up Thursday and must admit I’m a bit disappointed that they have changed the lower trim on the front and back as it’s now exactly the same as the SE. It was one of the few styling differences and I like it.

As yours has the same build date mine it will be exactly the same. I got mine for a complete steal though! He said they added an extra discount due to the VIP event but I didn’t really believe it. When I was signing the finance agreement I couldn’t get the numbers to add up and it turned out they’d tried to sneak on Dimondbrite paint protection. I got that removed and works out I got the car for £24440 on the road in Camden Grey!!

It so bonkers a deal a mate of mine looked into getting one and my dealer is now asking full price. Carwow is coming up with all sorts of offers but not many with the massive discount. I can’t see anything about a change in specs on the MG website (is this documented?)… so I’m wondering if they actually built a run to the wrong specifications and have spread them around dealers at a knockdown price?

I’m not gonna complain about it, it was a bargain and I’m very excited to collect mine. But it got me thinking about why they are so cheap, despite the reason the dealer gave me.

It’s an odd thing to do on purpose, Matt grey with carbon fibre effect at the front like all the others, black gloss with silver in the middle and black Matt at the back like all the others. Seems like a mistake at the factory rather than a design change!

It'll be worth millions- limited edition!

I was told the discount was a Q1 event. The discount in my dealer was on all trim level of MG4.

So first week done;

I have had a trip on the motorway using the cruise control and that was lovely (increments in 1 mph) and everything behaved so much so I was told to keep my hands on the wheel many times as I was holding it too lightly.

Around the City on my commute, again no issues and I am not seeing any issues with the car wrenching the steering with lane keep assist. However, the speed limit sign recognition is poor, it is the main cause of alarm noises on my commute when the car thinks I am speeding.

In answer to @Chrisdriving I have had zero bluetooth issues. I use an iPhone 16 Pro with a wireless CarPlay dongle set to 30 second delay. I have however had a couple of black screen situations with the CarPlay when I have just got in the car and gone straight away. A quick removal of the dongle and replace sorts it out.

Managed to get a 'launch' in last night, roads were a bit greasy after rain but it was still mental!

Yesterday, I think it was a Trophy spec was following me and when it indicated the indicator was within the front light cluster where as my car has the indicators where people have the 'fangs'. Are all Powers like this and I just haven't noticed?

Finally, yesterday morning I had the opportunity to use the iSmart app in anger and pre heat the car whilst I was having my breakfast. The heated seat and steering wheel are so nice to go out to.

I read all the issues on here and don't doubt anyone. However they must have changed something as apart from the Speed Recognition, I have so far, in my 300 miles not noticed any of the typical issues. I can't wait to drive it every day and have not tired of all the questions I get asked when pulling up places in it.

Many thanks for the update, sounds good.

Trophy has indicators in same place as X Power, the SE has them in the cluster.

The Unpainted front is apparently normal on all the new X Powers. They have removed the painted inserts around the window controls inside as well but kept it in the centre control area. I too got (am getting) mine with a huge discount, although not quite as good as yours and I have asked them to sort out the front and rear trim.

There is nothing on the website about this change and they are still showing it on car in the pictures. Seems a bit like false advertising to me. I am concerned what else has been changed that we don't know about and I did complain to MG about it as well, pointing out that the MG haters will have a new excuse to slate the brand. Always been a fan of the underdog and this will be my first MG after moving from Škoda.

As you said though, a steal for an already good value car. Can't wait to pick mine up. 🏎️

The first time I floored it from the lights in sport mode I wondered what the hell was going on. It’s insane 🤣
People used to have to spend crazy money to feel that sort of push in the back. It's a fun car to drive, so easy as well. Far cry from the 70's supercars that you needed to have muscles like a body builder to drive.

Yeah, it’s like two cars in one.

It’s got the things I much prefer about electric cars, like more refinement and ease of use (I like driving but most of it’s miserable going to work and back or stuck in traffic). But it’s fun to drive when you want it to be.

But it’s also got a super car alter ego. The acceleration is just brain scrambling. I expect you get used to it but the rapid change in speed is mind blowing. I love that it’s a bit “fighty” with plenty of torque steer, but not so much it’s hard to control! I love the noise it makes too. I couldn’t care less it’s not engine noise. It’s more like K.I.T.T, which is something I’ve been striving for since I was about 8 👍🤣

All the “Not a hot hatch” reviews I read about it seem really silly now. A Golf GTI or Golf R might well be better to drive around a track or vastly exceeding the speed limit on A or B roads but for most people the XPower is going to be a much faster car for their use case. I’ve had hot hatches before and this is definitely a hot hatch!!

I think reviewers are stuck in the past about what makes one. Giving an electric car fake gears or fake engines sounds just means it’s trying to impersonate what people are used to.

A car that you can happily live with day to day, looks a bit more sporty, can go around a corner fast enough your not terrified and beat most super cars in a 0 - 60 drag race, let alone other hot hatches; is a hot hatch.
