Pod Point free charging

Good to know, thanks. I'll probably leave it in there as there are a few paid (but cheaper than home) chargers near me.
How much is your home charging if you don't mind me asking and what sort of weekly mileage do you cover?

We're on Flexible Octopus so it's 27.09p /kwh.

I don't do a lot of miles since I retired - under 5k per year, so that's less than 100 a week. Most weeks I do under that and trips away take up the average.

With your mileage it's probably better to stay as you are and pick up as many free electrons as you can. Only you can do the maths. Switching to Go will up your daily rate. In your area Go rates are:
  • Day unit rate: 33.75 p/kWh - (yours currently 27.09)
  • Night unit rate:7.5 p/kWh
  • Daily Standing charge: 48.65 p/day - (yours currently 48.65)

Yeah, that's what I figured. Under normal circumstances (i.e. no long day trips planned) I'll only need to charge up every couple of weeks, and the higher day rate will wipe out any night-time gains.

I frequently charge at a nearby Tesco (Aylsham). They offer:
  • 2 Type 2 outlets at 7kW. It's free to use, just confirm charge via the PodPoint app within 15 mins.
  • 2 Type 2 outlets at 22kW It's free to use, just confirm charge via the PodPoint app within 15 mins.(but only charges at 7kW as that's all the MG5 onboard charger will do)
  • 1 CCS Combo / CHAdeMO rapid at 50kW, for which one has to pay via contactless debit/credit card, app credit etc.
