I've recently got an MG4 SE LR and had a Podpoint charger installed at home last week. All lights were showing as ready to charge (flashing blue/pink) but when i plug the car in, it goes yellow, as in ready to charge, but when i go on the Podpoint app and tell it to start charging, it changes to red and the app says there's a fault.

My car displays 'connecting' the whole time. To unplug it, i have to tell the car to unlock the cable, at which point the charger goes back to blue/pink (ready to charge). I have reset it at the main switch and it made no difference.

Is there something I'm doing wrong? Podpoint claim they're coming to have a look at it this week, but tbh, they've been useless so far, so i thought I'd ask here.

Does it work OK on the Granny EVSE (charge point) that came with the car.
Have you tried it on a Rapid DC charger or a Destination AC EVSE?
I've had the car for 2 months now, so been using public chargers the whole time without any issues, almost always the 150kW ones. Not tried the granny charger at all.

Make sure you lock the car rather soon after plugging in the cable, this locks the cable in place. Sometimes you need to hold to plug up a bit as it can sag (mostly a case for CSS2 plugs). Then when the charger indicates it's ready to charge, you should be able to start the charge. (you can now open the door to get in the car, or use the app).

Never mind just read you've been using public chargers and everything, looks like an issue with the home charger.

I've only used the Be.Ev chargers, so with the exception of one 50kW charger, all the others were 150, I don't know much about the different types, I'm afraid!

The rapid chargers you are using put DC into the car. Your home EVSE is a AC type which is just a switch and put mains into the car as it has the charging on board.
That's why you need to try the granny or 7kW Type2 as it could be a fault with the car. Has anyone else tried their car on your podpoint?

Yellow LED means you have a schedule set on the Pod point. Red means a problem with the charger.
Firstly make sure you don't have any schedules set in the car or the iSmart app.
I would then try cancelling any schedules in the app (and on the car) to see if it works as a dumb charger.
It all gets confused if schedules are set in more than one place.

Thank you to everyone that's replied, I've learned a lot about this subject from you and really appreciate the input.

I followed all the advice, removed all the schedules from the car and the charger and still no joy. I've currently got the granny charger plugged in and it's charging, so i think it is the podpoint and not me. The mechanics are coming to look at it tomorrow so I'm glad you've all helped me double check it wasn't me being thick! Fingers crossed they sort it!
