MG4 Trophy LR
I’ve watched many YouTube videos and read this forum but still have some questions/issues (picking up the car today trophy LR):
-has there been an update to now allow the car to pre heat the cabin whilst being plugged in but after charging?
-how do you ensure that the car uses power from the charger when pre heating the cabin and/or the battery when it’s plugged in?
-planning on using the hypervolt app to deal with all the charging schedule - car needs to finish charging at 5am to maximise the cheap overnight rate I’ll be getting. Can I use the hypervolt app to deal with charging finishing at 5, and then flick the cabin pre heat on at 5:50 ready to leave at 6 and this power be drawn from the charger still when the charging schedule is finished? Or do I need to allow the schedule to finish at 6 instead?
-will probably use the pre heat battery function in the winter when it’s sub zero, the same question applies there, I want to use the hypervolt app to run the charge, but ideally the vehicle to pull power from the charger still for this outside of the chargers schedule.

From what I’ve read on here there is no way to defrost the rear window and wing mirrors from the app?
Do you have to use HVAC when preheating cabin?
Does the vehicle remember how you set the blowers for the defrost? Or should you manually close the flaps?

TIA!

How far are you travelling to work?
If it's under 35ish miles then there is no advantage heating the battery even in winter.
Unless you need the maximum range of the car to do the round trip use the cheap electricity you've put in to the battery during the cheap rate to heat the cabin up not the day rate.

Only 15 miles so that answers the question about the battery heating! Thank you.

For the cabin pre heat, I want to be able to flick that on from the house whilst the car is on the drive, before unplugging it. So will it automatically use the cars battery if the schedule charge is finished? What you have said makes sense, just not sure how to do it.

Do you know what the software version of the car should be if I pick up today?

I got an Ohme Home Pro installed yesterday and have similar questions about the cabin preheating.

Do I still need to go into the MG iSmart app and turn on the HVAC before I leave? Is there no way to schedule it? What does the Ohme "Cabin Preheating" schedule feature actually do?

The cabin pre-heat is controlled using the iSmart app and gives you 10 minutes of heating before switching off. You can only do this twice in a row.

Don't get too hung up about getting the latest software version as there isn't a perfect version out yet. The R numbers quoted in the various threads are for the infotainment software versions not the other modules which control the car.

If everything works just enjoy the car.

Now the days are getting colder here in the UK I can't remember if the ISmart app preheat feature uses the HVAC settings last used in the car ?

I know you can adjust temp on the app but does it use the fan speed settings, vent selection etc. from what was last used in the HVAC settings in the car ? I don't normally use (or have set) any HVAC Auto settings btw.

I haven't tried this yet but with the Ohme app I read the guide and my understanding is that setting a cabin preconditioning schedule in the app is simply to get round the dynamic charging scheduling limitation so that the Ohme unit enables power when the preconditioning schedule is set. The guide warns the cheap rate may not apply at this time.

So, if wanting the preconditioning to start at 08:00 then set it in both iSmart and Ohme and current should flow even after the dynamic charging slots finish at 05:30.

I know the HVAC remembers the last setting you made in the app (rather than the car's set temperature).
I think it sets the fans to max speed when remote cabin heating/cooling.

I scheduled preconditioning in the Ohme app but how do you do it in iSmart?

This is the way i do it on a '24 ZS EV.
Set the Octopus app to Bump charge (or equivalent energy provider app), essentially continuous charge.
Set on the car to charge, using the schedule timer to suit your times.
The car will finish charging at the scheduled time/charge limit. But the charger still stays active.
Set on the car the battery preheat schedule to suit the time you want. Ie 1 hr before leaving.
Switch on the cabin preheat as needed.
During the battery preheat and the cabin preheat, the charger is still active and will 'backfill' the battery if it depletes below the set %charge limit that has been set.
Hope it helps.
Dont forget to switch off timers , Bump Charge etc on the car when reverting back to normal Octopus mode (or equivalent)
