ZS EV SE
Hi there,

I've been looking at EVs for years, thought I knew enough, it feels like I don't!
I've finally bought a ZS, I'm due to collect it on Tuesday (nearly new pre reg).
And now having some serious anxiety! I've not driven for a couple of years, only driven an ev once with an old leaf test drive maybe 8-10years ago.

The salesman admitted knew v little and the dealer is too far away to just pop in. I live in a relatively remote Highland village. Which does have a couple of chargeplace Scotland chargers.

Could I just check, I'm only likely to have a granny cable? I know I should have checked before... Waiting on hearing from the salesman, funny feeling he doesn't work weekends...
And to charge with a non rapid ill need a type 2 cable?
Thinking I need to jump on amazon straight away!

Thanks in advance... And if there is any thing else you think I might need to know to get started, and foolishly forgot to ask I'd be most grateful!

Dave.

Hi there Dave and welcome to the forum.

The ZS comes with the granny charger as standard, but some dealerships throw in a type 2 cable as part of the deal. If the salesman is clueless about EV's it might be worth asking for the type 2 cable as though it should be standard kit. If you don't try, you don't get.

You might find this thread useful.

Dave. Congrats on your new motor. 🙂👍

Hi Dave, welcome to the forum.
Are you using the CPS units for day to day charging?
Worth getting the CPS RFID card incase there is poor signal or the app doesn't work.

It sounds like you have a bad dealer. They could have answered this question…

Hi Dave and welcome to the forum. I live in Inverness and have just sold my ZS after 4 years ownership. Loved the car but changed to MG5 for extra range and practicality. I received a type 2 cable with the MG5 which is surplus and would be willing to sell for £50. Please contact me if you want any help or advice regarding charging etc. I would be happy to meet you locally if required.

Don't rush getting a charger, you can charge at home for a while with 3-pin charger you will get with the car. I got my ZS in April last year and still using 3-pin charger, no problems. 5 hours overnight off peak will give you about 30% charge on standard range battery which is 40-60 miles range.

About the car, it's like any automatic. Brake and accelerator + gear selector knob. The car itself is great, just take it easy - it's fast. Spend time reading instruction manual before picking up the car and get the best EV tariff you can find for your circumstances. I'm with British Gas for dual fuel deal, others with Octopus, etc

When I first got the car, it was a total information overload after my old diesel. Ignore everything (radio, cameras, information screen) until you get comfortable with the car. Again, read instruction manual inside out 🙂

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated.
Picked it up today, v apprehensive having not driven for 3years as mentioned, then driving it home 60miles.
The salesman - sorry, product consultant (!?) - even asked me to let him know when id got home, the nerves were shining through :)

But im very happy, its a lovely easy drive.

(came with both cables btw)
