Problem charging with 7kW charger

We've just bought a 2022 MG HS PHEV & are trying to charge the EV battery using our 7kW home charger. We've connected it up okay but the light on the wall charger is staying green and not charging, when it's supposed to turn blue shortly after connecting & then begin charging.
Do we need to press the button next to where the charger connects to the car, or something else. Cheers Peter

Give the plug a replug and / or wiggle. My charger if fine with my 4 but the HS is iffy. When you plug it in and lock the car you can hear it lock the connector, if it’s not perfectly aligned it will keep making the same locking sound and never charge.

I find plugging in, then locking the car, then authorising the charge works best. It’s very odd.

I just had to change my 15 month old charge cable, could be that. Can you connect to a different charger elsewhere to rule out your cable.

When I plug in ahead of a night time charge it doesn't always charge. Tried plugging in first then locking, and locking first then plugging in. The helpline suggests that I have plugged in too early before the scheduled charge time- so far that seems to be the case.

When I had the charger live all the time and the charge tim set by the car there was no problem. Now we're on the Octopus "cosy home" (heat pump) tariff we have to have the charger set for 22:09 til 24:00 and 04:00 till 07:00 to get 5 hours of charge. When we turn the heating off we switch to the simpler EV tariff.

Do you operate your charger from your phone? But whichever you must stop your charge mode when full then switch back on to whichever mode you require.

Yes, it's an MG charger which we're still using successfully to charge our other MG - an MG4.
We've tried other charges now & it seems we have an electronics issue with our HS so we're taking it in to have it fixed under warranty

I've also experienced the car charging, evidenced by the car and charger apps, but not displaying green or blue lights on the car socket.

Still haven't sussed out whether to lock the car before or after inserting the plug.

We often have trouble changing.

It shows blue lights around the charger and sometimes takes a while to turn green. Sometimes lately not turning green at all.

The orange light on the charger cable is on constantly and the little green light next to that is flashing so there is power getting to that, but the car won’t start charging.

I had my charge socket on the car (HS PHEV, '21) replaced about 18 months ago for the same symptoms - intermittent charging. To get it to charge I used the workaround that JTO suggested: plug the charger cab into the car's socket then hold the cable, slightly, in an upward direction whilst locking the car with the key fob.

As you say, symptoms include the solenoid whirring several times after locking the car - which is a sure sign that it will not charge properly. (Hold the plug up is a good workaround - thanks JTO)
