This car is first dealings with auto gearbox. Not sure if this should happen pulled up into car park turned dial to choose N but didn't hit park. Took foot off brake and car still moved flat surface not rolling it is moving under power
I thought N selected car shouldn't move.
Anybody confirm.

I tried it again blame user error. I was positive it was flat as was in a shopping complex. After I got out had a look and was on very slight incline not much but enough to allow it to roll making me think it was moving as if in drive. Note to self before posting check ?

If the car was on a very slight uphill gradient and you put it in N then took your foot off the brake, what would happen then?
I'd expect it to roll backwards.

I'll have to try Neutral out for myself, I only ever go from Park to Drive to Park, or Park to Reverse to Park.

I understand that the automatic gearbox is a novelty for you.

The important thing to remember is that as soon as you stop for a long time, all you have to do is press P WITHOUT going back through the N gear.

Why can’t you just have ‘Auto Hold’ switched on then once you take foot off brake it will still hold whether you on an incline or level ground.

Perfectly normal in all automatic cars. If you press the brake twice when pulled up or in traffic the park light will go green, this will stop the creeping, press accelerator to move forward again. You may need to turn this feature on in settings but my MG4 is on all the time. In neutral if the gear shows N it should disengage and not do anything.

Hope this helped
