Quick disconnect for MG5 battery

Just replaced the m6 nut on the battery terminal with a M6 thredded knob that can be undone by hand without a spanner should the need arise. I then cable tied the original nut around the terminal so i didn't loose it. Means I can disconnect and reset the car without the need of a 10mm spanner.

Tight fit but it is the black lead that needs to be removed as that is the main feed to the car and disconnecting that is sufficient to reset the car. Removing the whole terminal from the battery causes the current sensor - black rectangular box - to have to go through a recalibration process.

All the docs I have seen say disconnect the black lead only.

In what state should the car be when disconnecting the negative main feed from the 12V battery?

I guess unlocked, in 'Park', with as much equipment as possible powered down - so turning off all the lights (turn the auto lighting system off), no air conditioning running, no radio on, no equipment drawing power from USB ports or 'cigarette lighter' sockets. (I guess make sure the windscreen wipers are off, too.) Have I missed something?

Searching the forum for the 'reset' tag tells me that for other models the recommendation is that the battery should be disconnected for 10 minutes. I assume that applies to the MG5 as well.

A comment elsewhere says that even if you do disconnect the (?current) sensor from the battery terminal, rather than the main feed from the sensor, it will eventually (no idea how long) 'sort itself out'. Do you know if this is true?

Apologies for asking lots of questions: when I am ignorant of something, I try to find out as much as possible so I think I understand, for reassurance. I'm not one to charge in and do stuff, saying "It'll be fine...".

Just switch the car off.
