Range anxiety

It's a learning curve. You get to know the car and how much you really have in hand and how this will change under different conditions. You get more confident the more you know.

I haven't had much issue with stop/start traffic, possibly because even that is more economical than belting down the motorway at 75!

One thing to bear in mind is that it's a good idea every few months to run the car down to less than 10%, let it sit there for a couple of hours, then charge to 100% and balance in a single AC session. This calibrates the GOM.

I’ve settled into EV life quite happily, above all else the actual drive is so much more relaxing! MG pilot is also a fantastic tool. The economy and eco side seems quite secondary to actually using the car, and believe me the car is getting more use than any car I’ve ever had - because there is no fuel cost anxiety either!

That's how I feel too. When I got the car I went for the SR, saying that I don't go long distances much these days and I could always hire a petrol car if I wanted to drive down south. Hah. I've been to Sussex three times this year. The car is such a joy to drive I just want to take it out and go places.

It's not just the fuel cost anxiety that's gone, it's the pollution guilt. I think I always had a bit of guilt at the back of my mind, even when there was no alternative to petrol. Now I feel so free, the world is my oyster. And figuring out how to sleep in comfort in the car is the icing on the cake.

As above, there's much less anxiety if you plan ahead for longer trips. I've used ZapMap and stored all rapid and ultrarapid chargers along my common long distance routes as "Favourites" in Google Maps. I then have a first, second and third choice all planned for around 150 miles from home and at the destination if required. Once you've done it a few times the "range" anxiety will go. All I'm left with now is "will the chargers be free & work" anxiety 😊🤞
