Range Anxiety?

I'm not offended in the least Doug....you have to quickly develop a thick skin if you own a DeLorean.

To answer your first question, my Flux capacitor normally sits on my back seat as a "Range Extender".....I tried it in the engine bay but it got too hot!

I didn't exactly trip over it in a field, I had been searching for it for 20 years ;)

Hi Chris,

It's a bit ironic that the DeLorean you have a picture of has MG in its registration!!!

Did you go back in Time!! to do that!!

Regards

Frank

PS If your Flux Capacitor does work can you go back to Stranraer in 1975 and tell me NOT to get married to my first Wife!!!

I'm afraid a Time-Lord cannot divulge too much, as it may disrupt the "Space time Continuum" and going back to 1975 could be tricky, as my car wasn't made until 1981......I dont think you would want get stuck back then.......... especially with your first wife!

You need to learn your Back To The future.......part two.

You have a Delorean!!!!!!!

Absolute legend sir, one of my favourite cars of all time (behind the 1989-92 Pontiac Firebird Trans AM). Have any pics of it from the outside in all its glory?

I got all excited recently when DMC started marketing what looked like it was going to be a relaunch of the Delorean!! However it turned out it was just a watch they were marketing ?‍♂️

I love the idea of having a flux capacitor in the MG too. You do actually get an app that acts as a GPS speedometer on your phone and has a flux capacitor in the background - when you hit 88mph it activates with all the sound effects. Could have it streaming to the screen while driving.

Well a thousand miles later....we have done it again.....Our Norfolk trip.:) We had a slight diversion this time....but still all good.

My very good friend has just finished restoring a Corvette Stingray.

It would be inappropriate to keep discussing DeLoreans on this forum, here is a link to my latest car's story.

RHD Project for auction, 1st Sept 2018 ....its a long tale....Fast forward to page 7 and watch the video.
I’ve just spent the past 30 minutes reading that whole thread, thanks for a great start to my morning (the DMC forum seems such a lovely and supportive space). I’ve had some (you may think heretic) fantasies about the idea of doing an EV conversion on a DeLorean to give the body a power train that it’s looks deserve. I know this has already been done I’ve watched a lot of YouTube on conversions. Thanks again for sharing the story @Chrispydoc ?

I think it was its new maximum of 176. But that's before you start using anything else....blowers heated rear window etc....it was a damp day.

(Thanks for your comments shikoku14....)

Did you use the blowers on the trip as I’ve noticed the minute you turn these on the range drops, but then it remains the same drop for normals fans on there own, heaters on or air con on....is it the same for you.

Blowers yes, about half the time, but no air con. We had the sun roof slightly open most of the way. Yes the rage drops immediately you turn the fan on, but it also goes up again as soon as you turn it off.

Its long trip and we were prepared to put up with a bit of inconvenience for the extra miles we saved.

But do you find that the the range drops by the same amount regardless of whether it’s just the blowers, air con is turn on or heating on the reduction in range is the same for all three?

Yes, but I recon the GOM is pretty good in general, but it is a bit of a blunt instrument.

But if you think about it...the more stuff you turn on and the faster you accelerate....the less range you've got.

Its only really important when you are cutting it very fine!

NAF (translate to something like 'Norwegian Automobile Association') did a large ev test, with 29 different ev being tested for range and charge
The ZS they managed to drive 308.1km.

That isn't a bad length, and is done in real life conditions.

Google can help with the translation.
The MG test :
And the whole test :

I couldn't understand a word of it...(because of my inabilities with mr Google) .but the sight of all those EV's on the second video was great.

I would recommend using abetterrouteplanner app as that give you all types of factors and options in the route calculation.

Just completed by latest long trip.

The GOM was indicating 40 miles 'spare' right from the start....very impressed with its accuracy.

Derby to Norfolk via A52, A17, A47. Traffic nice and steady.....no air con...sunroof cracked open. A good trip...car heavily loaded, so very pleased with its performance.
