Hi All,
Has anyone removed the rear bumper on a ZS EV mk1, I broke the rear fog light and need to replace it.
It looks to me like a lot of clips and a few screws BUT there is always one hidden away somewhere!!!
So if anyone can help thanks and if you have pictures, even better (of the bumper removal that is!).

Thanks

Not my car, but someone's done it

I had to remove the rear bumper of my MG ZS EV to replace one of the rear bottom lights, and it very convoluted:
  • you need to remove the rear lamps, and there are two screws below and behind them
  • you need to remove the wheel arch cover , at least a bit to show a screw behind them: use a plastic tool ( cheap from ebay) and pry out carefully until you can see that screw
  • you will also need to take out all the bottom screws ( including mud flaps), so about 8 screws , plus 6 from mud flaps
  • once all the screws have been removed you can lift a bit the bumper from the side and lower retainers , this will leave the bumper hanging from the cables and you can easily reach the bottom light - I bought a new plastic one from Aliexpress fro a fraction of its price from the UK dealer.
To reassemble, just reverse the steps, be very careful with the boot rubber seal as it is very tricky to put back, and if not positioned correctly the car will detect the boot as open.
Hope this helps someone

Actually, after doing all this work I realised that MAYBE there is an easier way if you only want to replace the bottom lights
The rear bumper is joined to the body ( chassis?) of the car with some felt, which is kept in place by 3 or 4 screws, so maybe if you take out the felt ( after taking the screws out), you can move the felt out of the way so you can reach the lamps
Maybe somebody can check that - that will be far easier than removing the whole bumper - as I did !

there was a recent post somewhere on this forum, someone just went under the car and pulled (or pushed) the registration light out ...
Also, there is a video on YouTube about removing rear bumper on Mk1 ZS ...

Thanks for the photos (add more please if you have).

I just wanted to help you guys...
Unfortunately I did not take any more pictures when it was removing the bumper - too stressed out!
I'm sure as hell I am not going to disassemble it again just to take more pictures!
I can answer questions, if you need help, anyway
I did spend a lot of time trying to find some videos, so I'm surprised to hear there was actually one video.
