HI,

I'm a new PHEV owner.

Did a mixed drive (town traffic/highway) on pure EV mode and the MPG just kept going up and up and up!

Ended up on 562 MPG - it refused to go higher so maybe that's the upper limit on the counter.

Either that or the car is faulty :)

Has anyone ever hit these levels?

What is your mpg over high miles or kms though ? its easy to get high economy readings on short distances. Photo attached is 2504 kms accumulated km with the total 0.4 litres / 100km, which we achieve all the time
235.215/(0.4 L/100 km) = 588.036 US mpg

Hello @Cafeg! Your numbers look too good to be true. How did you achieve them? And clearly this is over 2500km -- so that means you have been consistently getting these. You are probably doing most of your driving in EV mode but then i would expect more kWh/100km. Your dashboard is showing only 4 kWh/100km which is much better than most full EVs.

I got the PHEV a month back and am still settling into it. Hope I can eventually get something close to your numbers. My one guess is that we don't have the regen baking level setting in the phev here. It only has one level which it comes preset with but I still would not attribute your numbers to that. If 4 kWh/100km was achievable then this car would have done like 300+ km in pure EV mode.

Here is a photo i just took now after 1,337.1 kms and its saying 0.2l /100 kms and i still have 3/4 tank of petrol left. Nearly all my driving is in EV mode around town or to a satellite town with range of the 61kms it will do in EV mode. These are normal figures. When I go away on a trip I leave it in Auto (hybrid) mode and it gets 5litres /100kms I last filled up on 04/10/2024 6 months ago :) I zero the accumulated total on each petrol fill.
When I start driving sometimes its in EV mode but if it isnt I switch it to EV mode after 5 mins so the petrol motor still gets some use. Its coming into winter her in NZ so temps are dropping down to single figure temps but I still leave the heater temp at 19deg and switch to EV mode after 5 mins.
Heres a even better stats picture of 0.2 litres/ 100kms which I just took right now which converts to 1,176 mpg. Now that must be a record !!:)
I just love the economy of this car and its great to drive as well :)

Hey! Now these numbers make more sense with 22.7 kWh/100km. I was not surprised at your petrol usage since you are driving in EV most of the time. I was just surprised at the battery usage in your previous picture -- this one seems more realistic and closer to what full EVs achieve. I like the car so far as well -- would have liked it more if the suspension was a tad on the firm side.

Also, not sure about NZ, but typically petrol goes bad after 3 4 months. It might be a good idea to not use 6 months old petrol....

Ill ask mg about that as there could an additive I can put in the petrol to counter that. I normally let it go down to quarter of a tank before I fill it again :)

Our '06 Prius would only go as low as 0.2ltr/100kms, but the best we got was 50 ltrs for 2,500kms, so 0.02ltrs/100kms ..... but it did have an extended range battery pack where the spare tyre normally lived and we solar recharged every day at the workshop from the motorhome.
The only downsides were
the all electric was limited to 80km/h, so anywhere outside the major built up areas, petrol had to be kicked in to avoid being run over by the trucks
Regen only charged the traction battery and didn't transfer over to the extended range battery.

Nothing like the MG4 51 we recently purchased, it doesn't use any petrol, and so far, 5,000kms has cost us $17 at one fast charge, the rest is all solar powered 🆒

The electric side is showing 18kwh/100kms, but we are still getting over that instant performance thing that gives you the EV grin ;)

my next one will be a full electric I think, My MG phev has 7 years warranty on it so I will decide in 4.5 years, There will be a lot of different options by then :)

We looked at getting another phev when we were at the dealers pricing purchase options ..... still had the range angst thing in the back of the mind. But $30,000 drive away for the MG4 51 was just so much cheaper we decided to take the plunge ...... plus we have another 2 salvage auction MG4's in our workshop yard if we ever need parts ...... Driving one of these things to get the claimed kms to a charge, just seems to go against the feel an EV gives you, so it only gets the light throttle treatment if I start looking at the battery percentage and realise I'm still a long way from home ....then the range angst really kicks in
