Red interior or Grey - Are you happy with your choice?

After seeing the car in the flesh, which interior do you prefer?

Curious as to which way people are leaning after seeing the colours in real life

Depends on body colour. I'm not liking the red interior with red paint, the different shades of red look a bit odd. Red interior looks good with grey and white paint.

I wish there had been a grey/black interior option for my yellow Cyberster, but happy with the grey interior.

I have the "black and red" interior with my red "GT". However, I'm skeptical of the choice of the cloth material on the seat bottom and back. Looks good but,,,,After 6000 km I begin to see wear that wouldn't be there if the seat were either full leather or the imitation leather. Would have much preferred the seats to not have any cloth material at all. The cloth not nearly as durable as I would like. But we'll see how it goes.

Some people have described it as "red clay" which is more accurate. It's indeed is different but then so is the car overall. At least they improved it from earlier prototype iterations that had all the interior done throughout in that red clay. Adding the black contrast around the cabin (which is really a deep grey) ? toned things down a bit. But you're right it's not red in the classic sense.

I’d like to see any pictures of yellow car with the red/black interior as I would go for that. I saw the grey and it was too dull for me personally.
This is the only photo I've seen of this combination.

I know everything is subjective, but there's a reason they won't let you have the red top with a yellow car! The same with the interior, the clash will be terrible, it just doesn't work. (Think Michael Portillo's wardrobe!) If you're not planning on keeping it long term, it won't be popular with many buyers, so will most likely devalue it when you come to change cars.

As you say, totally subjective. I actually prefer the 'red' interior with the yellow as it's not really red. Almost a dark tan. Whatever, I like it and my dealer said it was the more popular choice, so not just me.

Of course, you need to enjoy what you like, and congrats on getting the car. (Take dealer patter with a pinch of salt though as lying is as breathing to them. They'll always tell you, whatever your choice, that it's the most popular... ;))

Well I think they said it was the more popular before I indicated my preference. No matter, these are personal opinions. I don’t understand why you cannot have a red roof with the yellow. It wouldn’t be my choice, but I believe in letting people have their choice. It’s not really the manufacturer’s decision to make. The parts are available, so give the customer the choice.

To clarify my position, I do not have a Cyberster - yet. I have been following its progress since the launch. Sat in one at the Everything Electric show to confirm height was not an issue and then drove a GT yesterday and found it beautiful to drive. Roads around here (in the wilds of Surrey) are appalling, but the Cyberster handled the poor surfaces with aplomb.

My criticisms are minor. I think the rear lights are silly and it should have wireless CarPlay, but I cannot see the former when driving and the latter can be solved with a dongle. So neither are a big deal.

I did have a problem with the doors. I’ve had a car with that sort of door and after the novelty factor wore off, they were a negative. However the Cyberster doors work so well, I’ve come around to liking them more and seeing them as a positive. The Electrifying review where (I forget her name) complained they were so slow is mystifying to me as they don’t seem slow in the slightest. However, she also complained about the paint finish on the main door strut, but that effect is due to it being a cast aluminium part. So what does she know. 😀

I was hoping I would hate the car having driven it as that would make my life easier. But I didn’t. I absolutely loved it. Now I need to divest myself of some classics I’ll probably never get around to finishing and make room for a Cyberster.

I have the grey interior but have noticed quite pronounced reflections of the front interior cowling on the windscreen under certain lighting conditions (especially with the roof down). I imagine this would be less noticeable with the red interior because that area is black rather than light grey.

We took the red/black interior only for the black part, because we will have all alcantara swapped for leather (my son is allergic to that stuff). I also don't like the lines in the seats design, so we'll have the design changed as well. One option is to use the same colour as the steering wheel on the seats/door panel inserts, but I might as well swap all red parts in the interior so also the steering wheel.

My unbeaten MS Paint skills were used to create this :)

I really like your idea. 👍 MG in choosing Alacantara as the seat cushion material is a risky decision. Mine at 8000km already showing signs of wear and the durability is suspect. I much prefer your concept. Good luck and keep us posted on the outcome.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can someone confirm that the grey interior (in a GT) is a mix of light grey alcantara and darker grey "leather", door trims etc. and not black like the red/black interior?

My dealer claims that the GT version grey interior is light grey alcantara and black leather/trim, but all pictures/videos I can find - the interior looks like a darker grey - not black (which is what I really like the best).

I hope this makes sense :)

Some of these car sales people don't seem to know the product they're selling at all well. They should be embarrassed to know so little!

It's definitely light and dark grey only, no black trim (apart from the carpet!) with the grey choice. This picture is from a GT on sale. :)
