Over the last 11 months / 11k miles, I have seen drivers complain about HS Phev exiting EV mode without any conditions listed in manual. I’ve personally encountered this and managed to reproduce this regularly.
IMO it is related max regen and when the speed of car increases.
Say you are going downhill and you pull your foot off the accelerator. It starts slowing down. If however the speed of the car increases (as it does with gear changes), the car switches the engine to increase braking
