Replacing 12V Battery

This may or not apply in your situation 'Biffo', but if I press the Start button then put the car into D(rive) or R(everse) before the "Ready" notification and bong, I see the "HV Battery Shutdown" message. I usually do this when I'm in a hurry to get moving, but if I wait just 1 extra second for the "Ready" notification then I don't get this. Guess I'm just impatient - hope this helps ?
This. Whenever I’ve had an issue is due to being too impatient on starting up causing a HB battery shutdown error. I still have the original 12V battery in a 71 plate pre FL MG5 LR. I appreciate I will have to change the battery at some point but wanted to point out I’ve only had issues when trying to start the car too quickly.

What does 71 plate mean?

Edit: Yes I could look it up but why do people (English usually) quote plate numbers instead of year??? ?

because almost everyone they talk to would understand that it means the second half of 2021. For as long as I can remember people have referred to their car's age based on the registration and that includes 2 different styles of letters and the current numeric system.

You beat me to it!

You can decipher this easily enough online but I'd agree that it does tend to be assumed the audience is predominately based in mainland UK.
In reality, we have a pretty healthy non UK membership who participate fully across all areas.

Strictly speaking it is more confusing than that.
From March 1st the reg changes to the year we are in so 2024, becomes a 24 reg. Then September 1st they add 50 so it becomes 74. This runs until March the next year.
So a 71 plate could be anytime between Sept 1st 2021 and Feb 28th 2022.

Completely confusing for anyone outside GB, so perhaps better to stick to year of registration. :)

I'll do that when Americans stop measuring things in cups.

Mine was displaying the error before I turned the dial and then gave a series of relay clicks. All been flawless again now I’ve changed the battery.
