Roof bars?

Has anyone fitted / used roofbars on their MG4? I was hoping to re-use a square bar with Thule fittings from another car, but it looks like the Thule square bar has "changed" so the new square bar option ("Evo") won't work with my old square bar.
And I won't use the roofbars much, so don't have an appetite to spend £250 on a set which I might only use 3 or 4 times in the next couple of years.
Was hoping someone might have found a cheaper alternative, or perhaps have a set I could "rent"? I know roofbars and bikes would cripple efficiency, but I've got a specific use-case coming up in the next few months where having the EV as the vehicle, with bikes and with insufficient seating space inside to store bikes will be the optimal choice for me over taking the diesel car which already has roofbars.

The MG4 in the UK is not rated to carry any roof load. That doesn't mean it can't, just that it's not been type-approved in the UK to do so. Hence you'd need to check with your insurer before fitting them.
