Hello,
I have a Samsung A14 with android auto installed. I also have an MG4 EV. When I connect my phone to the car, via a cable as the car does not have the wireless connection function, they do not connect. Neither of them recognise the cable connection.
I had a 5 year old Samsung J series phone that did connect to the car easily and I really liked it. But the phone broke 6 months after I got the car in 2023 so I got a new phone, the A14. I stuck with Samsung as I had never had an issue with them and the phones 'obviously worked' with my new car. But the A14 will not connect.
The car company has looked at it (two different dealers) and their phones connect just fine. Various 'phone shop' people have looked at my phone and said that it is set up correctly. But the phone will not connect to the car. This seems to be an issue with the A14. I have googled and come across a few chats on-line, including on the Samsung site, where other people have the same issue. But there are no fixes anywhere that I can find.
Could you help me figure this problem out? I would like to use android auto again.

Did the other testers use your cable?

Are all permissions and data usage enabled?

Does bluetooth music/call reception work stand alone?

Have you cleared the android auto cache? (Settings > Apps > Android Auto.Choose Storage, then Clear Cache.)

Could you try your phone in another car with AA?

Thank you for replying.
In answer to your questions:

Yep. They used my cable.

Everything was fine in terms of permissions etc (went through samsung live chat support last night. They got me to reset everything, but it still didn't work.)

Bluetooth and normal phone work fine.

No nothing about a cache … might try that.

I don't know anyone else with a car with AA to try it just yet.

OK, on the basis that the dealers reset the head unit,? and some phones are incompatible for no apparent reason ?‍♂️ and we may be chasing our tails there are only two more steps I can think of personally tbh.
1/ Use the shortest Anker cable you can get.
2/ Get a wireless AA adapter

Sorry if it's no help but unless you can try it in another vehicle we can't rule out the phone or car incompatibility.

My wife's A14 used to be very intermittent until we got a short cable (Anker I think).

I'm a bit uncertain if it has failed since, but it didn't drop out on a 2 hour drive yesterday.

If the shorter cable improves it but doesnt fix it completely, then the phones USB is the likely problem and the USB hub mentioned in the link below may be worth a try.

Okay. Just found that my phone, Samsung A14, connects to AA in a friend's car, not MG.

So the AA works in my car with other phones.
The AA works in my phone with other cars.
But they will not connect to each other with a cable.

Would a wireless adapter work??

I got one of these, seems to be working fine. Im using an Oppo16.

It would have helped if I had attached!

This arrived yesterday £14.84 from AE. I have been using a cable which works fine, but after reading a few posts, thought I would give a wireless adaptor a go.
This advertised for both Carplay and Android, I have an Android phone, so my comments are for that only.

Instructions are straightforward but with very tiny writing.
Plugged in and the car recognised the unit, followed instructions and paired without any issues. I then paired with my phone, having first unpaired from the car. Again no connection issues and Google maps appeared on screen, but message said that Spotify was offline.

I then spent 10 minutes fighting the wi-fi connections on my phone, but no joy. I then spat my dummy out and decided enough was enough! However upon checking the icons on the phone, there was no 4G letters displayed,

I later had another go and the phone worked as it should have done using my data allowance.
I can only presume that there was a temporary phone network error.

Anyway like @Bricktop X PWR I digress.

I subsequently have got in the car a few times and everything seems to be working as it should. Android auto has started up fairly quickly, phone status, maps and Spotify all working.
How long this lasts, who knows, however for £14.84 Im not complaining…..yet…View attachment 28323

Folks just got my Mg4 and the same problem as the guy here. Apple Carplay connects no issues but Android Auto wont play at all just requests the cable to be connected all of the time. I will try out some of the suggestions here.

Mine was a Motorola G13 on Android 14 just in case anyone else has similar with that phone
