My SE will now preheat at any time I wish, even if plugged in not charging.

There is a software update that will allow you to pre heat when plugged in not charging. My trophy never did until Wednesday when it went in for software updates. This topic/issue is still rumbling on though, On my Trophy, I can Pre-Heat the cabin whilst plugged in and charging, but, under no other conditions. It is really random how some cars will Pre-Heat whilst plugged in and charging, some while Plugged in and not charging and others when not plugged in at all.... I would just love an answer on what the conditions should be and then be the same for all!!!!!
Thanks for this! My car lights up the neighbourhood when I pre-heat, and I came here this morning to ask if anyone knew how to change that behaviour ?Also only the running lights come on now instead of headlights when pre heating
Do all your back lights still come on? Makes you wonder since they went to trouble of making change to address complaints of it getting lit up (obviously by design) then why not just leave all lights off like I think most of us wanted, I really struggle to see why MG would think anyone would like this 'feature'Also only the running lights come on now instead of headlights when pre heating
I imagine it's to do with the law around DRL and the fact they're controlled by the BCM, so when you use the app, the server polls the cars data modem which wakes up the BCM, as this controls virtually all the features of the ismart app.Do all your back lights still come on? Could be they utilise a different module for lighting control or are more confident in their software to make sure the lights work when they're legally required tooThanks that kinda explains it, to get fuller understanding I must read up on the DRL legislation.
Still can't really see the logic of lighting up the car, and know for a fact several other makes that don't do this - infact don't know of ANY other EV maker that does!
I wonder has anyone come across this in other cars than MG, and do their other models do it?
Because you'd have to code the module to take into account various statuses of modules and considering, the lapse quality of some software, such as the infotainment unit not booting sometimes I'd hazard they'd air on the side of cautionI can see the lights coming on as a by-product of the BCM activating. But I disagree that DRL law has anything to do with remote preheating of the car ... when the car is parked and locked then no lights are required; why should lights be required simply because it is parked, locked and heating up the cabin?
I was more saying the DRL coming on will be just written into to the code if the BCM is active DRL on, as DRL is legislatively required to be on when the car is runningAgree - it's how the car software is coded, not because DRL law requires it.![]()
My car has had all updates on Wednesday, however when I went to pick my car up it would not Pre-Heat when not plugged in. But have not been able to check while plugged in but not charging as the issue that Miggy went in to have fixed 'Airbag Warning light' was not fixed and they still have my car. This is the 4th day in the courtesy car! There is a software update that will allow you to pre heat when plugged in not charging.
