SE LR not achieving range I'd expect.

Charged my 2023 SE LR yesterday to 80% and drove 101 miles achieving an average speed of around 53mph due to spending over half of that time on the motorway.

After 101 miles I was left with 20% battery.

Can anyone tell me if this is roughly expected? The journey was 50 miles each way. I drive in normal mode with the AC set to 22 degrees at level 2. The journey was dry on the way in and torrential rain on the way back but both journeys did use seemingly about 30% of the battery each.

I think by the end of the journey I was averaging 2.7 to 2.8 miles per kWh.

It depends on a few different factors such as driving style, wind, temp, terrain e.g if you don’t exceed 60 mph in dry conditions, 10°C, no huge hills, little head wind, in eco mode you should easily get over 4 miles per kWh but if you are doing 75 on Motorway, on wet road, lots of hills, off the motorway lots of speeding up then slowing down shortly after, strong head wind, 4°C, you could get much lower e.g 2.5 miles per kWh.

If you do a few different drives in different conditions and and it isn’t getting better then it might be worth looking into.

Sounds a bit off to me. I recently did a 200 mile round trip starting at ca. 80% and ended with about 30 miles range. Virtually all motorway, cruise control at 60mph. Initial estimated range was 240 miles so I regard that as pretty good estimation. Efficiency >3.5.

But what were the elevation changes (if any)? Ambient conditions (temperature, wind speed and direction, etc.)?

What one person gets can't immediately be transferred to another person, unless they drive the same route in the same way and in the same conditions.

There’s a page on the infotainment that shows the last 50miles consumption graph and total kWh used by motor, kWh used by accessories (HVAC etc) and kWh regenerated. That helps too.
Google maps can show the elevation profile.

I was very pleased to get 4.2 on a dual carriageway journey on Sunday night. Very up and down.

Stuck at 63 on the cruise control and watched the efficiency go up with each coast downhill.

I'm getting 3.4mi/kWh with the temperatures now, but that's with 14-15°C ambiet. It was down at 2.8mi/kWh when the weather was colder. I live in a hilly area.

Driving below 65 mph on the motorway makes a huge difference.

I have never seen an estimated range displayed on my screen greater than 210 miles. That's even at 100% charge

October last year. I've been putting the range down to cold weather and knew I'd never get near 281 fully charged. But to be getting nearer 160-170 from a full charge seems a steep drop off and I'm just wondering if it's even remotely normal.

I don't have the LR so it's very hard for me to say. I've been seeing 145-150 miles showing on the app at 100% charge for most of the winter on my SR. I've not seen a number below 145. I tend to think of the LR as having 60 miles more range than the SR, so we could perhaps make that 50 miles for winter, which would suggest you probably shouldn't be seeing numbers below 195 miles (on the app, car switched off, no HVAC) for the LR.

But this is very back-of-a-fag packet.

Sounds a bit low to me, but I guess it depends on how hilly things were.

My last long journey in our Trophy was in February this year from Musselburgh in Scotland to our home in south Cambridgeshire, so mostly down the A1 with ACC set at 70mph. We had AC on set around 23 degrees and I was in normal mode. At the end of the journey the car showed distance of 345 miles at an average speed of 52mph and a consumption of 3.3 miles per kWh. On one leg of the trip between chargers (about 130 miles I think) we averaged 65mph and still sat around 3.2 mls/kWh.

I've been up and down to Scotland several times and from home to Cardiff too and never been below 3 miles per kWh travelling at 70mph where possible. The only time I see less than 3 mls/kWh is on short journeys when the car is using up battery warming things (and us!) up. That seems to be getting better now that the weather is becoming milder.

Those figures are typical of my SE LR this winter. Driving mostly dual carriageway. When we had a “warm” few days last week around 14°C is was showing estimated 210 miles range. Worse has been around 150.

@stevegus, you have SE SR in your profile. If that's not correct, could you change it please?

The worst I've seen on my SR has been 145 miles.

My advice for the OP would be to hold on a bit for spring to happen in earnest, and see if the range recovers. I remember thinking my range was pathetic when I first got the car a year ago, but then it picked up quite quickly after that.
