Prebooked Moby’s first service a month ago via my leasing firm for today. Had email & text confirmation and a reminder yesterday.

Arrive at the nominated shop: “sorry sir, there’s no record of your booking, oh BTW we aren’t working for Alphabet in the future”.

?

Call Alphabet, they have no arrangement with Aylesvegas or MK MG, nearest is Beaconsfield….

(??)

…next month, by which point Moby will be 2k miles over 15k.

???

Can you not take it to another dealer & do it a different way?

As is driving hours away each time ??‍♂️
worth an explore maybe
Might have to, technically I’m in breach of my lease agreement if I don’t follow the manufacturer’s service schedule.

Not feeling particularly cool & froody about MK MG, now waiting a week since I enquired about software updates outside of service schedule, could end up needing my vaccinations & going to Aylesvegas.

That's the warranty void then just as well it's not your car it's the next owners that may get a shock
On the blower to Alphabet now. I don’t care- as long as Moby still works- but they might

Edit- it’ll be out of warranty anyway due to mileage.

You have email and text confirmation that you booked it in for service, therefore you are not in breach of the lease agreement, Alphabet are.

There is SOME flexibility of servicing time scale regarding the warranty T&C’s as long as the car is booked in at a main dealership I believe.
I would contact MG and ask them to verify / confirm the fixability on T&C’s.

Some, yes, but not circa 2k over.

The plot thickens. MG Aylesvegas told me they do work with Alphabet (despite what Alphabet told me) & I have a provisional booking for 6th April. That’d still put me over 16k miles but better than ten days later.

Relayed this to some poor sod at Alphabet & asked for some reassurance. Unfortunately the reply included too many “shoulds” and not enough “yes” and also not in writing.

Asked for a manager callback & giving them until Tuesday. After that I’m going to get my grumpy face on.

So it’s Wednesday, and not a peep. Rang them up again & was told he was going to refer me to the “priority team” who will call me back by tomorrow.

For <redacted> sake
Same old, same old !.
Well, the only thing we need NOT concern ourselves with, is the standard POOR level of customer service unfortunately these days.

Final (he says, appendages crossed) update.

After another couple of fruitless calls, finally got through to someone with a functioning braincell who sorted it out in 25 minutes: Perrys MG Aylesvegas is ok & it’s been noted that me going over the mileage is not my fault, any warranty related problems are Alphabet’s issue. More importantly I have this in writing.

Why the <redacted> this couldn’t have happened 12 days ago is beyond me, and I am yet to get a coherent reply from their complaints team (not that I care anymore)

Service completed with no dramas, I was assuming it was all going to go horribly wrong so pleasantly surprised.

In other news, I’ve had a further email from their complaints team saying they are still reviewing my complaint, no idea why it’s taken so long but hey ho, Moby has a clean bill of health.
