Test drove it - genuinely amazed. But worried about the various "snag" lists of problems with the car.

My partner can hear the whistling of the spoiler ( I couldn't admittedly, thank goodness to the younger days of clubbing and loud music)

I've been used to fun cars, and genuinely have had little to no problems with my cars (apart from an audi with incredibly awful brake pads)

Torn between Trophy, or plug ins of the Mercedes A Class Variety/ Ford Kuga territory.

Any wisdom appreciated.

Also - love grey/ black versions but struggling to see any decent pictures of those. Thanks in advance :)

Look at the spec between the LR version and the trophy. Decide if there is £3k of value or must haves for you.

And remember people come to forums like this to complain or if they have a problem,

You dont get people coming here just to tell you their drive to tesco was great. They will come to tell that the floor fell off or the wheels fell off….

I test drove a Cupra Born, Tesla M3, BMW i3 and MG4. Bottom line for me was that the MG4 Trophy had the 'bells & whistles' and offered the best value for a new car plus great fun & a pleasure to drive for an EV. So I have a Trophy on order

I've been used to fun cars too... BMW 650, chiipped Alffa Romeo, Mazda MX5. The MG4 is very different, but great rear wheel drive fun.

One thing to remember with pure EV's is their winter range can be a third to half as much as the summer range especially if you like the heating on. But if you can charge at home on a cheap rate and don't do longish journeys in the cold weather then it's just a minor inconvenience.

Choosing which MG4 is for you is a totally personal choice. Look at the specifications and see which you want/need and is it worth the extra to you.

Like PristDean I too have ordered the Trophy as I like the bells and whistles and I've had the more expensive paint colour because after 46 years of car ownership it'll be my first new car and I'm having the one I want.

Depending on your budget the SE is a no brainer.
The trophy with grey paint after the price rise is now over £33k.
This along with expensive apr rates take the trophy into closer competition of far superior quality cars, in terms of fit, finish, functionality.. and a lot less niggles.

Something to also consider is that the MG4 is a ground up built EV built on an MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) with 50/50 weight distribution. Not like some other EVs' which have taken an existing ICE car design.
Lots of variables to consider, but if you are buying a new car, as Ian has said, buy the one want you really want.

Lots of ground up EVs on the market.
VW id3.
Cupra Born.
Kia EV6
Ioniq 5
Megane
Tesla's
Ariya.
ORA.
Mustang.

The list could go on loads of ground up EV's at various price points available, it's actually really good to see the choice that's available now.

A ground up EV used to be rare thankfully that's no longer the case

Yep - you won’t find a Tesla that used to have an ICE engine! I wonder what proportion of manufacturers just make EV‘s and nothing else? I think Volvo have said they aim to get to this point. I guess most will eventually.

As a potential new MG4 owner (on order anyway) i'll promote the MG4 on this MG EV forum.
As said it's ground up built with great results, according to Bjørn Nyland who has a YouTube channel, 'it drives like a German car'.

Everything I have seen, experienced and read about the MG4 plus it's price point leads me to believe that it is the best all round EV on the market right now. I'm happy with my choice and sticking to it

The OP will obviously decide and make his choice, but hope to see him back on this MG EV forum as a Trophy owner.

Nobody is trying to convince anyone to do any different, merely giving opinions that the op asked for. It is his decision that he needs to make and live with, as it is yours, as it was mine.
I am merely stating my opinion and just because this is an MG forum it doesn't mean we can't mention other manufacturers

Everyone knows that you’re making £1000’s out of commission from Renault….?

And tail gates as well as an Audi

I didn't say that anyone was trying to persuade anyone. I am also not indicating that nobody can provide alternative views or opinions so do not appreciate that you think I am alluding to that.

I'm talking about me not you, I never at anytime said you did, I just mentioned the op. And in the past there have been issues around other members mentioning other makes, one even basically told to leave by being supplied a link to the make he was discussing again I am not saying you have done that?

I realise that you are talking about you Leni, but it was in response to my post. I certainly know that I have not promoted any other makes of car on this MG forum. (y)

I know you haven't but it wouldn't matter if you did is the point, it shouldn't matter if anyone is, the fact we now have all these new EVs that can be discussed as options if someone changes their mind about the 4 is surely positive in terms of uptake of EVs in general.
People should not be shown the door if that is the case.
Again not meaning you but has happened in the past.?

Re. the bit in bold ... I can't remember if it was me who supplied a link to a forum for the make/model a member was discussing (I vaguely remember the thread - it was a few months ago) ... if it was then it was NOT (as you insinuate) an invitation to leave; it was merely a pointer to where said member may find more useful information about the make/model they were considering - you know, helpful advice (as you yourself deem your own comments here despite not having an MG of any flavour). :)
