Hi,

I have been looking at used MG4s but have just realised that I am measuring their battery health largely on mileage and thought that this is possibly insufficient therefore I would like to hear your sage advice...

How should one measure battery health when buying an MG4?
Practically how is this done?
What is healthy for a 1-3 year old car battery that has been doing 8k miles per annum?

Thanks,

I’m Australia we’re perfectly setup for renewable sources of energy.
Yes, I think I heard Rosie Barnes (Engineering) say something like this at one point. And Bobby Llewellyn on his podcast, who hangs around in Aus sometimes.

Plenty of wind and sun and low population density.

Shame you lost so many years. And now the loonies are going on about nuclear for some reason.

Right on ????

We also get 10 months of good sun in Cyprus. My 4kW system is generating between 23-25kWh each day for much of the year, We use around 8kWh/day on average. With aircon running 24x7 in at least one room per day, lounge and then bedroom, 24kW/12kW units, my last bill for 2 months was €29, mostly made up of fixed network charges. We get €1500 credit every year for the PV system being grid connected. Absolute bargain, pay back is around 4 years. When my MG4 arrives, it will effectively have free fuel.

(going back a bit) Out of curiosity, checked the state of health of my battery, still 100% so within the original buffer, 9000 miles after 16 months
Also going back a bit, I checked the service documentation I received in April. On the MG Maintenance Check Sheet MG4 EV under 'Connect diagnostic equipment, using VDS read, log and clear all codes Check and record the HV battery State of Charge and State of Health' the result is '✓'. Elsewhere, under 'Battery Test Results' it merely states 'Battery tested OK'. I'm none the wiser.

Well then they must have recorded it somewhere so they should be able to tell you the number. And if they didn't do it, they should do you the courtesy of letting you drop by and have it checked while you wait.

I wouldn't disagree, but I shouldn't need to go out of my way to ask. The paperwork I was given was next to useless (much of it relating to ICE vehicles) and, for all I could tell, it could have all been pre-printed.
