I had heard its range wasn't all that great either. It didn't do well in one of these "we drove these electric cars till they died" tests.

Coming back over the Bealach, an aggressive yellow sports car forced me to reverse a little into a passing place. I was so intent on what was behind, and the SE doesn't have front parking sensors, so I didn't realise that there was a retaining wall on the other side, too close and very sharp stones. Cross with myself. It's just a paint job though.

There are compensations. Mushroom soup at the Torridon Hotel, while Caliban gets some charge. Also, CPS tell me the Glairloch chargers, showing as unknown status on ABRP, are fine.

AND when the friend who gave me a lift there yesterday morning asked about a scratch on her offside rear door (looked as if it had been keyed but she said no, she'd come in light contact with something), he said, just hang on ten minutes, polished it out, and didn't charge her anything.

Outside Temperature: - 1 °C a little snow fall
Inside Temperature: 3 °C
Inside Temperature after preheating by Ismart App: 16 °C
Car Battery: 74 %

Car Configurations:

• Key in the car
• System start by pressing with hand on to the drivers seat
• Light Switch to "Auto off"
• cover over driver Display
• entering back seat
• Aircon Configuration: 19 °C (corresponding to 14 °C in the Car), Full Auto Modus.
• door lock switch in the infotainment display
• switch infotainment system to "screen off"
• cover over gear selector and Hand brake
• Entering sleeping bag.

How was the night?
The combination of the Futon with the isolation mattress underneath is very comfortable. As I'm 6.1 tall and the max length of the bed is 6.2 I need to lie a little bit diagonal. Temperature of 14 °C (Aircon 19 °C) is my sleeping temperature. There is no annoying air flow from the aircon. One drawback is the noise from the heat pump. The pump starts frequently but in spite of the recognisable noise I fell asleep at 23:30.

3:30 I woke up because it was too warm in my sleeping bag. I noticed absolutely no condensation on the inside of the windows.
Other cars around are covered with ice.
Aircon still running fine.
To get more room for my knees I laid the right back seat rest flat.

6:30 I woke up cosy and fresh. Still no condensation in the car. Inside Temperature: 14 °C Outside temperature: 0 °C.
Car Battery 68 % (0,85 % Battery drain per hour corresponding to 0,550 kWh).
This means the total energy consumption of the Mg4 Trophy equipped with a heat pump is less than 4 kWh battery drain for a 7 hours night at outside temperature of -1 °C and constantly running aircon!

Sounds fantastic, but I'm too old for that sort of adventure, my bladder won't let me sleep through the night.And getting out of the warm car into 0°C doesn't sound like fun.

I tried it today with my MG4 without a heat pump. I started my car's HVAC with 87.7%. After exactly 2 hours, I had 82.2% charge. That is, a difference of 5.5% in 2 hours. This makes a loss of 27.5% in 10 hours. The settings were as in the picture. Air temperature was around 10°C(50°F). By the way, I had read that the brake lights would go off, but they were still on after 2 hours. Any ideas?

Nice you gave it a try as well.
In comparison to my test run there are some differences.
I your picture I see you have the main lights on as the infotainment display is in night mode. If the main light switched on or is in auto mode there will be always the taillight on. Switch the little toggle switch at the left lever to the right in order to switch the auto mode off. Now you should have the daylights on without the tail lights.
Your aircon is adjusted to 25°C which corresponds to 21°C, mine was switched to 19°C which corresponds to 15°C.
That results in a higher consumption.
Your consumption was 2.3 kW, mine was 0.9 kW. This is not so bad because the gain ratio of a heat pump is normally about 3 or 4.
There should be less noise in your car because I found the heat pump quite noisy.
Your sleeping configuration with the air looks very cosy. How did you fill the gap between the front seats and the back seats?

Thanks for the info. Actually I didn't fill it with anything. It was just a check to see if it would fit.
As I checked from "Carscanner" I had a consumption of 2 - 2.5 kW.

There is an offset of about 4°C between the temperature shown in the display of the aircon and the temperature you really get in the car. This is a known bug in the MG4 aircon
