MG4 Trophy LR
I've had my Trophy for around 10 days now and have become aware of several glitches: windows dropping, dangerous LKA, occasional unresponsive touchscreen, incorrect reported charge rate from granny charger, illegible on-board infotainment manual, etc. My Entertainment System version is R24. What improvement should I see if I ask for R33? Also, what bug fixes are forum members aware of and what patches should I ask my dealer for when I take it back later this week?

Regarding LKA, it doesn't aid understanding by using different terminology. The user manual mentions 'Lane Departure Assist' and 'Emergency Lane Keeping'. I assume that 'Lane Departure Assist' is LKA by another name and is the feature that yanks the steering wheel out of one's hands. Is this correct? What, then is 'Emergency Lane Keeping'? It seems that ELK is the feature that MG Pilot doesn't want turned off.

Had my Trophy for 5 weeks and has R30. A must to turn off LKA and Front Collision Assist on any journeys over 30mph. Be aware they will re-activate if drivers door opened.
Tried ACC for first time a couple of days ago on clear motorway and after 5 minutes was almost thrown through windscreen with phantom braking phenomenon.

For goodness sake! That must have been frightening. Have you spoken to your dealer about the phantom braking? Surely there’s a way to prevent that through a software fix.

I had ACC set to 55mph. Car in front was about 100 metres away. Suddenly braked very sharply down to 40mph and screen flashed a red warning message that I didn't have time to read due to panic. This wasn't gradual braking.....it was emergency.!!! It's staying off for now. All driving aids are turned off at start of each journey now. Been driving almost 40 years and don't need them and find them all a needless distraction. I will be petitioning my dealer soon but from reading rest of forum we are stuck with them for now.

Fair enough if you’d been within metres of the car in front, but to do that with 100 metres to spare beggars belief. Yeah, I think you’re safer with it off for now.

Out of interest, and a general question to anyone…does the car record all these events somewhere that is accessible. Just thinking of insurance claim if phantom braking happens and causes and accident… ie someone behind accusing you of brake check etc… who is liable… MG for it’s faulty software or the driver.. when my MG arrives I think I’ll disable these features too . I presume I have to do this each journey

Just checked the RAC website and even at 70mph, the braking distance is 96m…at 50ml it’s only 53m.. a simple algorithm would reduce the speed proportionally to how far you are away from the car in front. Clearly the radar, camera …whatever it is … is picking up a phantom object and not confirming it’s actually a car directly in front… also wonder what happens if the road bends more than 3m over the next 50m as then the car in next lane would appear to be in front of you… more software development needed.. or just buy that algorithm from Tesla

I doubt it was ACC that slammed the brakes on ... it was probably AEB (Automatic Emergency Braking) that did it, because the car mistakenly sensed something in the "danger zone". Are you sure you had Front Collision Assist turned off?

(I've had phantom braking before - at low speed, and with surroundings that could explain it - but I've never had ACC slam the brakes on).

If you read the manual there are various warnings regarding the driver assist functions that highlight their limitations.. I've only had my Trophy for 10 days and not driven far at all but had several occasions when the car has tried to follow a repaired strip in the road surface. I've also had the odd warning flash up for something but it's gone before I've had the time to read it.

The MG4 Trophy we test drove from the dealer was on R33, I actually took a snapshot of it to look into firmware revisions. Didn't notice any problem with that in the albeit short 45 minutes drive we took in it.

So I gather that there is no OBD hacks from anywhere on the horizon?

I would strongly recommend going to your dealer for all the latest updates
I was rather hoping that someone could advise me what I should ask for. My confidence in the dealer is yet to be tested and my expectations are not high. :(
I've heard of people being refused infotainment revision upgrades.

You can go to any MG dealer.

Whichever you choose you need to stress the problems you have had, how dangerous they could be, that you know there are software updates for the car available (not just entertainment, but various modules), that you know other people have had updates to fix these problems and that you want them to investigate and resolve the problems as they best see fit under the terms of the warranty.

Yes, but I don't really relish the idea of going to the next town for support.
Incidentally, I just got into the car to have another attempt at binding it to the app and just happened to notice that the Driving Mode was set to 'Snow'. I don't know how that happened  The last thing I did was to charge it yesterday so I'll try and replicate the issue.

Is it me ?

Yea it was def off. At the time I was going round a sweeping right hand bend on motorway flyover. The adaptive part of ACC was set to longest distance. My theory is that the radar detected the barrier as the car would be pointing towards it and initiated the braking.

That's a bug I've noticed ... if you select Sport mode and then go back to the Drive modes section you see Snow selected (even though the driver display still shows Sport).
