ZS EV Luxury
Yesterday, I was informed by the dealer that a software update for the MG ZS EV (I have the latest version) should be released by the end of the year. Can anyone confirm this information? I'm particularly interested because I would appreciate it if MG could improve certain features, such as navigation that takes me directly to a charging station based on current consumption—other vehicles like Tesla, Škoda, and practically every modern electric vehicle have this. I haven't found this in the MG. Of course, I can use ABRP, but it would be more convenient if the car had this feature built-in.

I would say there was close to zero chance of this happening.

This functionality was on my previous Hyundai Ioniq, and was relatively useful as it tied to the GOM so it would show you a progress bar with what you would have left at the next stop.

The chances of MG having up to date data, live charging status and implementing that in a robust way and then rolling all that out IMO are remote.

I believe this is solvable. It’s enough to gather the necessary data, or possibly arrange for external services—there are several available—and integrate them into the system. Moreover, it’s purely a software issue, so it can be improved without major modifications to the vehicle. In any case, MG will have to address this in their new models in the future—I’m not sure about the MG 4—but it’s common for every new car to have it

Anything is possible, of course.

But the question is, can MG do it in a useful way and get it rolled out to your car?

The answer to that, is likely, no.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with Gartner quadrants, where competing companies offerings are mapped in a scatter graph...? If MG were in one of these for automotive software, they'd be in the bottom left, Tesla would be in the top right.
