MG4 Trophy LR
It might seem to be a silly question but where exactly can I find the software version on my MG4 Trophy LR please. I keep seeing references to different upgrades but have no idea where to find what I have installed!

I just had my MG4 Trophy in for its first year service. They did software upgrades. I asked where can this be seen in the car. Reply was quote
"The updates in this campaign are for the BCM, FDR and EVCC and addresses various bug fixes"
They are not visible within the car to owner. They definitely did do the uodates, I notice now that cruise control increments are every 1 mph hold down to increase by 5 mph. Also holding down the cruise control switch, engages, disengages TJA
Hope this helps.

Note: holding down cruise control button this does not stop LKA it only adds TJA traffic jam assist to the cruise mode.

I can't remember the exact menu, but the version numbers are definitely there in the settings. You'll see people talking about different software versions on the forum (R33, R59 etc) These can be found in the settings.

MG should really stop doing an Apple and release decent change logs, versions of the various systems and encourage updates rather than if the car has an issue.

OTA will solve that, when it works!
No it won't, because OTA updates of module firmware is highly unlikely to be included so we'd still need to go to a dealer for module updates. OTA will likely only cover the Infotainment unit.

Remember - SAIC/MG are a car company who try to do software, unlike Tesla who are a software company who make cars hence their hardware/software is much better integrated thus allowing OTA updates to just about anything.

Agreed for current car vehicles, but the next significant updates such as MG9 will no doubt offer OTA as SAIC develop/maintain more of their own software modules. They will have to, to compete when Zeekr, BYD etc are all doing it. The Chinese catch up real fast having surpassed legacy auto, so I expect we’ll see this in the next 2-3 years. They finally managed to make the iSMART app work a bit better!

That is only the infotainment software version. There are dozens of car modules that actually control the various systems that have their own software versions that are not visible to the end user.
That is what I was told by the service manager, you can't see the other module updates only the infotainment R number.
Mine is showing SW168-29958-1300R30 What does yours show please?

There is a sub menu to the Entertainment System version, it is supposed to be an engineers menu so be vary wary of what you touch if you do decide to view it.

This has been posted elsewhere on the forum but if you want to access the sub menu and sub component SW versions

Tap 5 times on the Entertainment System Version
In the pop up PIN window enter 200519

You will now have access to the sub menu

Again, I would be wary of what you select in this menu as you might have the option to brick the car, knowing MG software.

I have R46, this was installed by the dealer to fix some issues back in March, I am going again in the next couple of weeks to have some other problems addressed, not sure if I will get an update to R59 or not.

R59 is the latest one, you can request from dealer.
You can ask, but you'll probably be asked to pay for it.

Best way to get it is to report a problem with some of the software systems (needs to be a genuine problem, of course) and ask them to fix it under warranty, then they may update the infotainment as part of that work, but no guarantees.

Software updates are not included for free except for very rare safety-related issues or bugs.

This is something MG need to sort out

They can check the chassis number for any pending module updates.

But checking only by VIN doesn't always yield all the updates that are actually available ... plugging the car into the computer does. ?‍♂️

No they can't. The dealers don't have this functionality made available to them. They have to plug the car in to the diagnostics to find out what versions it has. This is suboptimal to say the least!

Really they should be able to remote query the car.

You can find the module versions from the engineering mode which I’ve done.
Also when I called dealer with chassis number they were able to determine updates were pending, which I then had applied.
