Someone is on a 'normal' standard tariff, why would they buy an MG4 in this example?

More of a question would be how many EV drivers don't have solar panels?

This is where you truly gain benefits over ICE. You can't produce diesel or petrol on your roof ?

If it means having £10K solar panels to truly benefit, my heart goes out to those with no panels and no off street parking either.

This whole thread is based on the original poster's mistake in claiming the current electricity price is 54p/kWh. If they'd bothered to check the real rate they probably wouldn't have made the erroneous claim that there's parity in costs between ICE and EVs, and wouldn't have needed to double down and gish gallop.

They are not choosing to emit "poisons" into the atmosphere out of choice, but survival.
lol and those not emitting the so-called 'posions' might have conveniently cloudy memories of prior car ownership, short journeys, and cloudy memories of flights to foreign locations.

Hi,
You are correct. Which is why the revision was noted, with a note that that price only lasts until next April.
However, £22 (for an ~ real world 250 mile mg4 Trophy charge) (£0.34 X 64) as opposed to ~ £35 for a 50 or so mpg ICE car (for the same 250 miles) still suggested if it was worth someone on a standard tariff 'converting 'to an EV if they were in a position to change their car. Of course adding a £1,000 or so installation charge for a home charger.

I would counter this by saying that the cost parity relied on the charging costs being less. EV's are usually more expensive to purchase but the savings occur later due to total cost of ownership differences. Surely nobody could deny that the situation has changed recently due to higher electricity costs.

Hi,
Yes, I agree the thread has gotten off topic and I would prefer it if it reverted to its topic. Agreed.
The thread needs closing.

I think you've had your wind up, and time is up.

Judging by some of your other comments on other threads, I think you are definitely veering into troll territory.

I agree that the thread needs closing. More though due to an off topic drift, and of course your name calling and accusations.

What are you talking about? There was none of the sort.

Mods please close the thread, this is getting silly.

I don’t see any reason to close the thread.

despite a a bit of humour and an off topic drift (with a smattering of wind up from some members), I think the OP was a fair question and there is no doubt that the cost of charging is ever icreasing.

whose to say it willl not reach parity with Dino juice?

I agree. It's up to a poster if they want to contribute or not. And whilst it woudn't bother me if the thread is closed, whining to the teacher isn't the best look.

Not sure how driving a MINI EV would be less 'cramped' and 'gloomy' than an ICE MINI
I've driven the Mini EV, and you are quite right in that it is equally cramped and gloomy as the Petrol, it just drives nicer. It's compromised being a conversion of an existing chassis rather than a bespoke EV build.

No I'm not right. You said it was cramped and gloomy, not me.

In fact, on the day we got the MINI 1.5, both me and the Mrs had a decent drive along familiar roads in the transportation pod version. She was inquisitive and wanted a try just to see what it'd be like. Both of us thought it was awful in comparison. Felt much heavier too and the tuck in in corners wasn't there in comparison to the lighter (i think it is anyway), petrol version. Couldn't wait to give the transprtation pod version back in the end.

You're trying to use that term in (what you think is) a denigrating way, but fail to realise that all variants of the Mini are "transportation pods". (As are any other vehicles). ?

2/10 Must try harder ;)

Quite an assumption Guru ?. He/She/it maybe just trying to be humorous and having a daft laugh.

He/She/it has already said , considering buying an EV
