Ok, I know that there is no wheel well for a spare wheel, but having been caught out a few years ago in a car that just had a tub of goo, does anyone know the following about the MG3 Hybrid wheels:

  • Stud pattern: 5x---- Center bore:
I'd like to source even a space saver that can be put in the boot for longer journeys or kept at home and retrieved if needed. After waiting two hours for a rescue organization on a previous occasion, I'd like to have a plan B.

Many Thanks.

Years ago no car would have been sold without a spare. I would not drive any car without a spare. The crazy thing with the MG3+ is there is a well in the boot that could store a spare but they have gone and put the 12 volt battery in the well. Who came up with that bright idea?

There is a firm called "The Wheel Shop" Have a look at their web site. They have vast stocks of spare wheels for all cars and space savers and they deliver anywhere in the UK for free. Not sure about Ireland, but worth an ask.

I bought a space saver years ago for my Smart and stored it upright behind the passenger seat. I also have one for my VW which has a well in the boot for the spare. If i bought an MG3+ i would store a spare upright on the floor behind the passenger seat with a towel wrapped round the tyre to stop any rubbing against the seat. However i never use the back seats or even the front passenger seat seeing as i am Billy no mates.

Thanks for the reply Test Driver,

I agree about the nonsense of no spare wheel. I have ordered from the wheel shop before and found them very good. They don't list a spare yet for the MG3 Hybrid, but if I could get the Centre bore size and the wheel stud spacings, I could see if they have anything to suit.

@DeclanB
It is difficult getting anything for the hybrid with it being a new model.
I had the EV long range with a space saver wheel complete with jack and centre spindle to lock into the well in the boot.
When I changed the hybrid I kept the space saver with a view to selling it, but hey ho I took a wheel off the hybrid and it fits perfect, so if you can find someone selling an EV 2 gen space saver then you have cracked it.
The down side is it has to stay in boot on the hybrid, but at least I have peace of mind

Thanks al29, which EV was that? MG4 or MG5?
