What do you guys think about having an "Ohme go" on a commando socket all fitted in the garage, and running the charging cable under the garage door when in use?
The reason I'm asking is that the Ohme go is on offer with Octopus for £299, so with the commando, cable and other bits should come to about £450.
Can't get too much info on the 'go' so don't know if this would be any good as a setup.
I think Bjorn Nyland used an Ohme Go on one of his videos . . . Looked pretty good.

I find ohme to be a good company there customer service is brilliant I had trouble setting up the 5p all day tariff with ovo and ohme did not know it was out of beta testing ohme went out of there way to get it all up and running

Thanks, I was wondering more about the charger itself, it is sold as a portable unit, but I am thinking of using it as a fixed unit. Being the tight bugger that I am this seems a way of getting a 7KW charger on the cheap. But as we all know its this a case of penny wise, pound foolish.

To be honest what ever works for you you're the one using it obviously as long as it's safe with the right commando socket probably 6mm cable and a double pole switch rcbo or equivalent

I just remembered when ohme 1st started you could get the unit with a Commando or with fly lead for fixed installation

So ohme go is exactly the same as ohme home so no reason you can't make it a permanent fixture but if I was to make it permanent I would lose the commando plug and hard wire it will save some money on the socket and look neater?

Good idea I may ask sparky for an auxiliary consumer unit and have him wire it straight into that and put all the garage electrics on it as well as they are in need of a serious tidy up.

Hi,
No car yet, still waiting on delivery date!
However, got my quote for a Zappi charger to be installed in advance. (Expensive)
My quote has a non tethered unit. Does the ZS EV come with a lead as well as a granny charger?
And would you recommend tethered or not?
No its granny lead only, that's if and when it turns up. I've had my charger waiting to charge my se long range since February.

You only get a granny. You can get a reasonably priced type 2 cable from amazon or screw fix. I find a unthererd charger best as you can take the cable with you when you're out and about if you need to charge.

I went with tethered so I didn't have to keep getting the cable out the car. And no, unless you have a deal with the dealership the ZS does not come with a type 2 charger. (I also have the Zappi, but got it before the grant finished so only cost me a grand installed)
Yeah got a tethered Zappi II installed from Octopus (who subcontracted it). Very pleased. Was less than a grand though, as I got in just under the wire for the grant.

I know there are other chargers, like ohme etc but if like me you’re thinking of Solar panels and batteries then I think the Zappi is the way to go. It comes with a network hub and has other optional devices to control Solar and even water heating if you have an immersion heater. I know Solar and battery systems have their own management systems too, but it can’t be bad to have a choice…

Mine was also within the grant window, was about 970 installed as opposed to 1300
