After buying the MG3, I had actually planned to change to a set of ugly and cheap 16" steel rims with winter tires.
I asked several dealers here in Germany, who all have access to various wholesalers, but the answer was always the same: there are currently no suitable steel rims for the MG3.

lol ?

I will soon be fitting some winter tires on the original rims. I would like to have a second set of wheels permanently (steel... Alu would be available, but not what I am looking for).

What are your experiences? Is there already something available somewhere on the European market or outside, or is there something waiting in the wings?

Thanks.

lsteel rims are mostly supplied on 4x4s, so you can look on dedicated sites.

Did you mean Excite? In Australia, Essence is the higher spec model, close to the UK Trophy.
No, in Ireland it's Essence - Excite - Exclusive

So standard rims are 16x6 inches and 5x112 with ET50. Here above is one example of upgrade with 18 inches

Yes I agree @DeclanB, my point was that some MG Dealers are saying there are no suitable steel rims for the MG3, which is obviously incorrect.
True, forget the booze cruises to France, try a steel wheel cruise to the Emerald Isle.
As you say, MG already specs these on the base model, so they should be available, though they might look for silly money.

Thank you for all your feedback. ?
I will invest some more time in my personal research in the near future. But I think that, especially in Germany, the problems begin with the part reports, approvals, etc. The topic is very complex and I approach it with caution. For now I will mount the winter tires on the original rims.

it's gonna be around 70/90 for most of the tyres, to max 110 for the Michelin Crossclimate 2 with 225 40 R18
for eg : 225/40R18 All season Tyres | Free Delivery | Oponeo.co.uk
I wasn't doubting the availability of 18" wheels and winter tyres mate, but when fitting winter tyres you use the same size as the ones on the car, or smaller with a higher profile, you never go to bigger and wider wheels with low profile tyres.

Exactly, a slightly narrower tyre works better for snow particularly.
